Anyone else find that HSBC shut down their credit cards randomly every 6 months after detecting 'fraud' that's never actually fraud? I'm getting fucking sick of this. Now Mal has had her credit card killed in the same week while we're trying to furnish the flat. I can't even call the stupid cunts because they're all in bed. The poor bastard on the phone tomorrow is gonna wish he worked for fucking Lloyds..

The only time my card was suspended by HSBC was when it was cloned.
I'm glad they monitor and suspend, meant the fuckers only got away with £250.
My brother had his Lloyds card done at the same time, they got away with £5500 and the first he knew was when he tried to take some cash out.
It's a bit of a pain in the ass when they get a false positive on their 'unsusual activity' sensors, but I'd rather they did than didn't

I did until I moved to Nationwide.
They are really spot on with their fraud management systems. They call me when someone tried to pass a clone of my card in Pakistan and another time in Newcastle but were utterly unfazed when I used it in Austria.

I have an American Express Credit card which offers a cashback service. I've had it for a couple of years now and use it to buy everything. I then clear the balance by direct debit at the end of the month. This has been pretty lucrative as I get quite a bit of cashback. However I got my statement back yesterday and I didn't receive the rebate. I called AA and they told me they have ceased this promotion?. Does anyone know if this is legit? I looked through the fine print and it doesn't say anything about stopping the service (unless I don't pay the bill) and when I got the card I was not made aware of any time restrictions.

AmEx are doing a shed load of advertising on why you should use their card for everyday purchases, as well as Rolex watches and fancy holidays, so they may be persuaded to address your concerns, rather than having a negative article in the national "press".

Actually that would almost certainly be an unfair term, even if something similar was in there you could (quite convincingly) argue it was unfair. It's the Unfair Terms in Consumer Contracts Regulations 1994, act, plain English explanation.
With credit card agreements you can reject some changes to your terms and conditions - basically it is a contract, so you don't have to enter into it unless you want to. This could be hit and miss as it has mostly been used to reject interest rate rises, but worth a go. See here, Step 4 'Has it behaved unfairly?'.
Personally though I'd probably just leave, I'm with Capital One world cashback and I'm very happy with it - I've had 1% cashback for years but now also get an extra £10 'bonus' in January (the month the cashback is paid). I think someone told me the other day they charge an annual fee now though, if they do don't bother, I don't pay a fee but that could be because I've been with them for years.

Have cut up all three of my credit cards, MBNA did a chargeback when I got defrauded of £100 but then decided to reverse their decision. They keep changing their terms and conditions every couple of months, always to their benefit. Increased my overdraft with the bank and shall use that for short-term borrowing in future.

I prefer to use the safety net of credit cards for online buys. HSBC have stopped some fraudulent stuff to be fair, but every six months to get a new card is getting tiresome. They need to speed up their new card arrivals so I'm not a week without credit.

Credit cards for online shopping and Airmiles and pay them every month. this is not the first time i have heard these twats pulling offers. best bet is to apply for their card, take the introductory offer and send the card back telling them to get fkd, keeping the introductory offers.
