Once would be enough, puking and uninating on someones helmet twice is just rude.

Howdy.....first post here, am liking this OTP thread!
A picture of my '08 SE Lager last summer. The decals were binned instantly and the wheelset was used on another bike, replaced by these DT Swiss RR 1.2, laced to SystemEx hubs, with 25mm Gatorskins.
The crappy stem, pedals, seatpost and Tektro calipers were replaced with nicer ones from FSA, MKS, Ritchey and Shimano, respectively.
Since this picture was taken I've added a Niner Yawyd headset bottle cap (Real Ale cap, rather than Lager!), a set of MKS toe clips, Christophe straps and Cinelli strap buttons. For now the bike is tucked away for the winter....roll on nicer weather!
My winter work/pub/hack bike (which replaced an ageing Carlton s/s conversion) is an '08 Singlecross.
I sold the unused XC tyres and puny 42t chainring, replacing them with 28mm Gatorskins and a 48t 'ring, added 'guards and a rack. Am waiting on a set of chain tugs (the wheel just won't stay put in those alloy dropouts!) and whilst this is hardly a beauty, it's perfect for my daily commute.
This picture is the last time it was clean.....

my fuji in the snow.
Despite the snow, your bike still looks pretty clean, even new-ish. Good job on getting out there in the bad weather. -

Nice bikes, both of them. I've seen only a couple SE Lagers, and yours is easily the nicest. Nice changes. I wish I'd had a Tricross for the recent weather.
If that first photo is Dorset, it looks lovely at that time of year. Welcome to the forum.

The same idiocy that makes people ride without bar tape/grips?
Probably because they don't like having to carry them around when they are shopping/drinking etc.

Pifko, thanks for that info..

I ride with neither, but i've got a decent pair of gloves that I use instead, I don't see what the problem is with it.
People who do ride with neither gloves or bars/grips are tempting fate if it's raining/snowing though.

As long as you get a good glove that have plenty of grip on it, it should be fine (the knog one come to mind despite it's shitty velcro design).
thought I now ride with a transparent grip on the top of the drop.

Got a pair of windproof SealSkinz (I hate the z on the end of that) they've got really good grip but they're pretty bulky so i'll probably get some tape when/if warmer weather comes along.
By the way, love that bike ed.

If you don't ride with both gloves and tape/grips, you are asking for injury of some kind.
Bars are way too thin with no tape on, you lads must have tiny little girls hands. And they're colder, and borderline dangerous in the wet.
I know it's done for aesthetics and to each their own in that respect, but in my eyes they make the bike look unfinished.

it's for aesthetics reason, hell, I used to ride brakeless with naked bar.

mmacarthy's definately isn't for aethetics, he ride's a poo brown langster.

If it's for aesthetic reasons then surely it would need to look good wouldn't it? :-)
I also think it just looks unfinished and smacks of someone who doesn't actually ride very far.

horses for courses really, there's a reason why Nitto produced a andoised version of their product either way.
-
• #245
why? because there are people willing to buy it.
you could still tape some of the bar and be able to see some of the lovely blue/green/pink nitto. Or you could use see through tape like on your bike ed.
People will be riding without brakes next!

Good point, you don't want an extra 30 grams on your bike!
TBH, if I was drunk and ready to spew, I'd aim for the helmet.
