I have a mate in town from NYC who was supposedly at the foundry. Forgot that he's always multiple hours late to everything, waited for about an hour, then gave up and went home.
Totally lame. -

You are all Fail, Destroyer of Faith.
Wayne, Claire Nikolai and myself had a very civilised beer.
Where were the rest of you?
On a train. In the rush hour. With rush hour communters. Fuck it was dismal.
I've forgotten just how annoying an experience that is - all the self-important ones loudly making business calls, so that the people around them know how important they are, etc. etc.
I should've cycled to the KA, waited til after the rush hour and sat on a half-empty train out to Nowhere-land, with space for my legs and no irritations.
Karma has punished me, my lesson is learned. Never again shall I fail in such a way.

**^ **hmm, no! **
The Old Thameside Inn here
**it's right behind the Rake with more boxes to tick, unless someone brings up the roof as a major over_shining_it_all_thing we should still go there (and maybe sit inside).a better option than the anchor. still not ideal, imho
but there is a replica of the golden hinde...

**Stamford Arms**

SE1 9LXReview 1:
Probably the worst food in the whole of south london. Roland the Landlord is a total W*$nk$r and the draft Larger gives me the tom tits. Thursday, October 06, 2005 Rating: No rosettes
Review 2:
The worst eating experience I've had..... I experienced the most surly and rude staff and the lowest value for money food in a pub in London. After deciding to give it another go (I've been eating in the pub next door - The Hogs Head, for a year) I regretted it immediately and realised why I don't go in there anymore! Terrible! Thameside Inn, being Thameside, gets all the tourists. We're unlikely to feel 'special' there, and whilst there are plenty of railings, I'm not sure they would appreciate a pile of bikes being locked to them, spoiling the view of the model boat.
I'm voting for the Rake first choice. The weather will probably favour it as well.

I cast my vote for the Rake tomorrow. And according to the SE tradition of voting that is weighted according to how many teeth you have lost in an inadvised bicycle crash I can confidently predict that my vote will carry the matter.
See you all at the Rake tomorrow.

I did a recce of both the Rake and the Thameside on my way home just now. Both fairly empty at about 7pm. Both have a bit of canvas covering some of their tables outside. The Rake's overspill is into the covered Jubilee Market, so it's going to be a better choice in bad weather, given that we hate being separated from our bikes, and given that so many of us smoke. They are also about a one minute walk from one another.
