That pub was utter shtie.
Can we go back to the roebuck, please?what went wrong, where did it fail?
-
• #3406
Just a bit of a meat market.

George v Roebuck = Roebuck 1+ (simply for space+bikes+ownership)
Glad we went though it wasn't as i had remembered sadly, for me.I passed Roebuck on the way home....twas sadly empty and missing us.....:(
I also love seeing peeps turn up, skids, wheel swapping etc.... -

meat market,,, on a tuesday?
-
• #3409
Seemed that it was all about turnover and not about service.
As for the meat market clientele, I think that comes with the territory.

Now that we have ruled out the George, might I propose:
http://www.fancyapint.com/pubs/pub3284.html
The Rake! Covered outdoor space a-plenty. Nice beers. Lots of space to lock up bikes. Not too busy.
In spite of the venue, tonight was a great night because of the PEOPLE. Great to see some lovely people from Norths down earlier on as well: pity us poor itinerants as you sit in your fabulous hilltop hostelry.
Thanks to Kris for the 'gars - they're on me next week.

Might I propose a link that works?

Fuck da George! I'll never go there again. It's crap. As i don't mind as long they have beers, I didn't like that pub. Not enough space for bikes, not enough space for us, and feckin' expensive! Anything would be bether then this one. We've got 7 days to find something better. Do your best people, or dammit will never get his beers back ;).
And it must have a nice barman, just for Linx.

It's OK if you care about your liver - I had two pints in the same time I'd had four at Roebuck :-) Long queues, dudes.
Anyway, I'm safely home now and next week we should meet up at Festus' back yard. I can bring some moonshine and rice&peas. I've spent £25 today and this will buy me a crate of lager next week if we just pick a bench in the park or Multigrove's front room :-) And I had to make an emergency stop for a chicken&chips&red bull on my way back thanks to the fecking non existent catering at George's. -

Nice to see you
To see you nice!Great to put names to faces and meet some new peeps, Kris thanks for the posh cigar mate, lovely!
I concede The George was a bit shit, but the company was great.
Until next time.....

Works for me. Your clicking skills aren't up to scratch.

I vote thats a good next pub, from sharkstar.
I agree with the meat market feel, service was slow bt the bar man from the hair bare bunch was entertaining.
-
• #3420
I'm willing to try one more if everyone can agree that if we don't like it then we can go back to the Roebuck.
-
• #3421
To the Rake!

why try just one more, the perfect pub for south easts might be a bit more difficult to source than souths, or wests, or norths, as said previously, I personally never had any problems with the kings arms, but we moved anyway, so lets spend a little time finding a pub which ticks most of the boxes, for most of the people.

• #3423
you see what's happened?
all the other beers are laughing at us :-(
hahahahahahahaahaha!!

OK, now only have to choose the method by which we will choose the boxes to tick ;-)
Piotr and I are here, where are the rest of you?
