The Ivy House is 15 mins from the Roebuck. Fact.

SEs.
So. Fucking. Disappoint.
Again.

^^ and it is easy to find - head down Rye Lane, up the left side of Peckham Rye, turn left just after you've left the Rye behind
oh, someone's already said that
carry on

TW2. So confused. For once...
-
• #23731
So is it actually going to be at the Ivy House or not? I'm jet lagged and therefore tired and grumpy and can't work out who's trolling and who's not!
If it is in deepest SE London I need to work out how to get there but if it's at the King's Arms or the Roebuck I can go on sleepy autopilot...
Do you want to meet up somewhere, Pete, to ride there together? I can be your poisson-pilote.
-
• #23732
At least it's a decent pub TW...
Thanks Rich/Ludd. If I go through the Greenwich foot tunnel is there a decent way from there?
Oliver I'll be heading down from Canary Wharf, might not be ideal for you?
-
• #23733
No, I can pass through there, not a problem. Where exactly and what time?
-
• #23734
I can't think of a decent quick and easy route from greenwich tbh - down to the A2 at Deptford perhaps and then along to New Cross, Amersham Rd, Shardeloes Road, Brockley Cross, down to Crofton Park and then right over the footbridge behind the Brockley Jack? Then it's straight ahead, follow the cycle route - number 22? - that goes past the pub.
Or Florence Road and Malpas Road to get to Brockley Cross?
-
• #23735
i'd ride from the a2 towards peckham, then off this little cycle path onto rye lane and straight up...
-
• #23736
you can roll down the other side of the tracks to cut out the footbridge, but the road is so unpleasant I wouldn't bother. Navigationally, A2 -> Lausanne Rd/Gibbon/Ivydale probably simplest but reasonably unpleasant.

• #23737
Thanks all. Don't worry Oliver, I'll just go Rich's way down the Surrey Canal path. I'm not sure exactly what time I'll leave work and there's a possibility I'll just flake out completely and go home, but hopefully not.

• #23738
I'd simply aim to take Greenwich High Road, then a short bit along the A2, left into Florence Road/Malpas Road, past Brockley Station via Mantle/St Norbert Road, then Brockley Way/Inverton Road. I'll probably get us lost briefly a few times, but for the most part it should be easy-ish to find.

just get a cab

st norbert is a horrible road :(

Pete, assuming you can get to the New Cross road, go towards brockley on Florence Road (next to the Royal Albert). Cross the Lewisham Way and continue on Malpas Road. That'll take you to Brockley Cross (the double roundabouts). Go right over both 'bouts, and then make a left on St Norbert Road. Continue to a T junction and turn right onto Brockley way, which will become Inverton Road. COntinue to the next T, and turn left (Borland Road) then right (Stuart Road). Pub's on your left.
That's one way, and not necessarily the best or quietest. But it should work.

Just noticed that the above is a more detailed version of Oliver Schick's route. You'll be fine.

• #23743
order a pizza from somewhere in greenwich to be delivered to the pub then follow the moped.
-
• #23744
Oh, and isn't it lovely that the right turn from Queen's Road into Lugard Road has been officially sanctioned?

st norbert is a horrible road :(
Speaking of horrid roads, there's a wiggly bit of traffic calming on a road heading away from Brockley and past Nunhead. Drakefell/ Gellatly? Anyhow, yesterday I was following a car which failed to be appropriately 'calmed' by the traffic islands. it went right over the square-edged traffic island and blew out a tyre.
CSB, but quite something to watch.

Interesting to see all the different route approaches. Rich minds obviously think alike. :)

It's a rat-run like most streets of its type, nothing out of the ordinary.

Ah, I remember commenting on that scheme. That was one of the main comments. Is it for all traffic or only cycle traffic?
Before the change, you always had to look hard at that location.

Oops, missed this among all the replies. Hope you can make it!

Cycle traffic only. It still takes a bit of observation - by the time there's a gap in the oncoming traffic there's usually someone crossing the end of Lugard. But it's a great improvement.

I feel the road surface, hidden holes under the railway bridge and narrow choke surrounded by pavement parking gives it a certain je ne sais quoi.
It will be at the ivy house.
Ride towards peckham on the surrey canal path. cross the queens road and ride south on the contraflow bike path on rye lane. keep going at the end, and continue south on the east side of peckham rye park. turn left (east) following bike route signs towards brockley. pub is then on your right.
Or, Garmin.
See you later :-)
