  • Hoefla sorry not to make it but no one had posted by 7:00 so assumed no one would make it as it was raining (went to Lidl instead beers cheap and bizarely they sell welders).

  • Welders??!?!

  • no worries, I had a couple of pints in the clyde and watched the football.
did you have fun with your welders?

  • ^^ Yeah went in Lidl for beer and came out with an electric arc welder only £40 had planned on buying on the internet but as it was there thought might as well buy it. I have a quality Oxford welder but it is in the basement of my old house and weighs about 75kg so am having some difficulty in getting anyone to help me shift it.

  • Iain would help but unfortunately he did a health and safety course and now only lifts things with his legs.

  • Yeah heard that one before. Anyway why are you offering for others?

He's hinting that he'd like to help but doesn't want to come right out and say it in case you turn him down.

  • i'd love to help but i'm busy that day...

  • Washing your beard, eh? A likely story.

Shall I show you how to blow holes in metal and weld like pigeon shit?

  • I'm sort of intrigued but why would you do that?

  • It is the first stage of learning to weld with stick/arc

  • Ah I do not need that as I am already a welder used to work on oil pipe lines and the like

  • You'll know the welder's goggles joke, then.

  • i need to replace the sealed bearings cartridge on the DS of my rear wheel. i know what i need, 6000 2RS, and i'll pick one up before then.

would anyone like to show me how to replace it at the pub (or after the pub if it requires more tools than i'm imagining) in return for a plate of ribs?

i'd be happy to pay a bike shop to do this except that requires being without my bike for a least a day.

  • Can show you but its easier to do it somewhere with boiling water and the bearing kept in the freezer for about 48 hrs.

How do you get on with thin metals? I could never get on with thin metals but that was over a decade and a half ago.

seriously? i'm talking about swapping on new sealed bearing cartridges not servicing the used ones. ^still necessary?

  • need to sleep, but i'll look into this. thanks raf

  • Kings arms tonight. Maybe around 7

  • maybe. late.

  • Any takers? I know Michael's on tour and Iain and Tim only drink in Hither Green.

  • i am not drinking but i wanna come out to play for a bit but 7 is too late to hang around drinking soda and lime until people arrive. I finish @5.30

  • will head to kings arms and read my book for a bit. may or may not be there when others show up.

  • Will be there when I can
