Welders??!?!
-
• #22553
no worries, I had a couple of pints in the clyde and watched the football.
did you have fun with your welders? -
• #22554
^^ Yeah went in Lidl for beer and came out with an electric arc welder only £40 had planned on buying on the internet but as it was there thought might as well buy it. I have a quality Oxford welder but it is in the basement of my old house and weighs about 75kg so am having some difficulty in getting anyone to help me shift it.

Iain would help but unfortunately he did a health and safety course and now only lifts things with his legs.

Yeah heard that one before. Anyway why are you offering for others?

He's hinting that he'd like to help but doesn't want to come right out and say it in case you turn him down.

Shall I show you how to blow holes in metal and weld like pigeon shit?
-
• #22561
I'm sort of intrigued but why would you do that?
-
• #22562
It is the first stage of learning to weld with stick/arc
-
• #22563
Ah I do not need that as I am already a welder used to work on oil pipe lines and the like
-
• #22564
You'll know the welder's goggles joke, then.

i need to replace the sealed bearings cartridge on the DS of my rear wheel. i know what i need, 6000 2RS, and i'll pick one up before then.
would anyone like to show me how to replace it at the pub (or after the pub if it requires more tools than i'm imagining) in return for a plate of ribs?
i'd be happy to pay a bike shop to do this except that requires being without my bike for a least a day.

• #22566
Can show you but its easier to do it somewhere with boiling water and the bearing kept in the freezer for about 48 hrs.

How do you get on with thin metals? I could never get on with thin metals but that was over a decade and a half ago.
