at what point does a drought of freelancing become unemployment? always assumed they were two signs of the same coin...
-
• #19128
I've not ironed a shirt for work in 5 years.
This.
This is true, I wouldn't be unemployed for all the hugs in the world.
And definitely this.
Sorry to hear you've been given notice Iain!
Could you get a job in south east london now though? Reduce the commute down a bit?
-
• #19129
... Iain's not technically living there though is he?
-
• #19130
If anyone's wondering (I know you're all on tenterhooks!) I'm now installed in Peckham Rye and fully out of my old flat in the distant desert badlands of Shooter's Hill.
Royal Albert tomorrow is a resonding 'yes' from me. Sorry about the lack of organising Victoria beers over the weekend; finishing unpacking at 1am each night/ morning put paid to the planned funtimes.

• #19131
^^uh, um, technically? I don't know. His stuff's there, he sleeps there, etc.
And he'll stay in SouthEast because we won't let him leave.

freelance = self-employed. even if you don't have any work on, you don't sign on. you're looking for work but not a full-time job. it has its pros and cons as I'm sure you're familiar...
but you're less likely to be sitting around playing XBox 'because you don't have a job' because you have a job, it's just that you don't happen to have much work on. oh, I don't know.

^^ I didn't phrase that very well, I meant at Rosie's. or did I miss something?
-
• #19134
Yeah I think we're at cross purposes. He's staying at Rosie's (right?) but now surely he can get a job and a house in SE-London and everyone will be jolly happy.
Iain, stay!
-
• #19135
I think I'm out tomorrow, on account of the fact that I'll be on foot. Though I suppose I could try and walk home from the Albert.
-
• #19136
can't you get a backie home?
I might come if so on foot, again. -
• #19137
tandem available by appointment. but I'm going to try and squeeze 50 miles in pre-pub tomorrow for that silly strava thing so hmm.

I could be wrong, but I think city compliance type jobs could be in short supply in SE London, telecommuting* aside.
*Not my word, used at work recently and amused me.

SE boys and girls
I am drinking and playing babyfoot this saturday in honour of being older
You are more than welcome to join me at Bar Kick, hipsterville, from 7pmx
-
• #19141
Sadly, i am forced into London's centre as I am a cityboy...
Unless I get a job at the next gym again ;-)
-
• #19142
Don't discount Citibank Lewisham...
-
• #19143
^^^hipsterville?! but that's on the wrong side of the tracks!
-
• #19144
Nice, better in Deptford than Borough. Will make the effort to get over tomorrow night.
-
• #19145
Hmmm...
what would be a cool game for PS2 or XBox360 that you can play multiplayer but none of this onAline multiplayer nonsense?
-
• #19146
there's soul calibur 3 lying around at tb's, you might enjoy that. I dropped some ps2 controllers around the other night so you should be able to play kuri kuri mix or whatever it's called. If you're at home by yourself I would recommend playing through mgs3: snake eater.
I'll bring my xbox round at some stage - it's got lots of silly local multiplayer games saved on it..
-
• #19147
the problem with rosie's xbox is it has a baby hard drive in it, so you can only download so many silly games off the xbla :(
-
• #19148
what kind of multiplayer are you after? silly hack n slash fun, beating each other up, shooting each other, something else?
-
• #19149
mgs3?
Oh, i was thinking about like a 4 man comp between all of us on 2 42" tvs :-)
Racing car games i are my favourite
But also kiling zombies could work as a team effort

Does Left 4 Dead have split screen? I think so!
While this is true, in my somewhat informed opinion there's also some difference between being unemployed, and being 'freelance'...
