Ed, it takes years and countless long rides to increase the ability of your muscles to store Glycogen. Its not generally achievable in one tour. Think you just noticed that the Dunwich route is flat! Anyway, lets take this to the appropriate thread.

Very very flat indeed, my friend who was riding with me said "Ed, those hill are killer", I told him; "if you rode through Cumbria, then you'll know the true meaning of hill".

Look at 6pt, he barely eats anything when he rides.
Dunwich, there at back at 17.blah mph. Ate quite a lot this time: two rock cakes, a pack of wine gums, three egg mayonnaise sandwiches and three cheese sandwiches. drank 4 bottles worth of fluids, 1 was a carbo thing, and 1 coffee.
Oooh, and a fry up on the beach. Could have comfortably got there on one bottle and a cake, refuelling focus was for the ride home. -

I'd need a lot more than that for a 200 I think. I'm riding one in September...have a feeling I'll be towing a trailer full of pasta salad.
I remember my first run to Brighton. I ate a loaf of bread worth of sandwiches on the way. Now I don't really need to eat for 60-70mi rides although I am starving at the end of them. The fact you eat less with more miles is gradual but quite noticeable.
Reen...I'm actually feeling miserable for you. Fingers crossed one of us will spot it.

Just seen Balki, the rumours are true.
I did notice that in the DD Dan, I was screaming at an average 18mph and the biggest meal I've ate were just half a sandwich (amongst mule bar and haribo sweetie).
lots of waters mind.
