  • and to the other SEs, see you at tarck!

  • enjoy, great day for it!

I'm off to swing in trees down in Kent

  • 1 century now completed!

    What an awesome ride!

Petes directions led us down some of the most amazing paths and routes!!!

Dans encouragement brings joy to my heart:-)

And Sumos wit and stead fast pace was recommendable!

    Lovely ride

  • ^ +1
Thanks, Fox, for organising the ride, really enjoyed it and everything went smoothly. Thanks to Chainbreaker and Stonehedge as well for providing great companionship. Now for sleep.

  • Yesterday was a lot of fun. Thanks for coming along guys. Good weather, and with that wind I would not have wanted to do it on my own. There was some good sharing on the pulls, good teamwork!

Very happy that we didn't get lost once, it's funny that 'elf and safety failings at an oil terminal in 2005 caused the only real hiccup in the route, but aside from an extra 5 miles I didn't mind the detour.

I had forgotten how beautiful the countryside of my native Warwickshire is, especially around Burton Dassett. Damn them for building the M40 through the middle of it.

    Iain how is your back?

And when are you changing your username to wheelbreaker? I'm just trying to decide what to have for lunch, maybe I'll have tacos, ha ha...

Seriously though it's going to be so windy tomorrow I don't think riding back would be on the agenda anyway (it's already a lot windier in Leam today) so I'll just take it into Push tomorrow and get the wobble sorted :)

  • sounds like an ace ride. hella windy out there today though...

  • Sorry for breaking your spoke Pete :-) As long as i live up to my namesake!

Let me know the cost of the repairs and i will reimburse you for it:-)

I thought that you riding on that wheel for 50 miles or so was commendable. You Did an awesome job leading.

You remember the old betty who offered her place for a water and pee stop? That was unusual but lovely to see some people care still

  • Sumo says put your photos up.

Glad you had a good ride boys!

  • yes jess...

    Doing it now

  • Do it faster!

    +1 on everything Pete said.

Thanks to you all for taking a pull. I was really impressed with our pack riding...we kept it tight in the headwinds and several times did long stints well above 20mph. The one where we were at 23mph into the headwind for 25mins springs to mind. We briefly held it at 27mph for a short while...felt awesome.

Iain and Henry...congratulations on your first centuries. You handled it much better than I managed my first one.

Pete...just cheers mate. Great route and agree that it was impressive that rode the second half with a tacod wheel.

Just found out that I rode the last 50mi with my rear tyre at 50psi...

Stiff legs all round? Burton Dasset certainly gave me a workout...can't believe I forgot I had a small chainring to switch to!

  • Oh and 16.3mph average speed for a first century is a huge achievement. Top stuff chaps.

  • What were our stats Dan????

And another brilliant memory was the 2 long stretches of high pace we did!!! Amazing!!

  • Iain how is your back?

Sorry, missed this... Back is 100% today... I think its simply that my muscles were massively fatiguing so i really need to get a new stem...

Problem is i have checked, i cant find a 70/80 mm stem with a 15/20 deg that is also in carbon :-( Fucking annoying cause i keep adding weight to my bike and i dont want too... Any ideas chaps?

  • go on a diet?

  • fatty

  • You mean grow taller with longer arms so that i can actually reach my bars?

  • 93mi, 16.3mph ave, 4k ft ascent

    Top speed (for me): 37.3mph
    Cadence (for me): 91rpm
    Caffeine intake: Too much
Second most common toilet activity: Cottaging

  • What were our stats Dan????

And another brilliant memory was the 2 long stretches of high pace we did!!! Amazing!!

Less amazing if you were at the front :)

  • yes jess...

    Doing it now

    2 hours later...

  • Let me know the cost of the repairs and i will reimburse you for it:-)

I don't think it will be much, you can probably just buy me a pint or two ;)

My knog backs up Stonehedge's figures. I was a bit worried about the climb up to Burton Dassett as was flagging a bit by then, but got really excited when we got there and flew up.

The pee stop offer was great, reaffirms your faith in humanity doesn't it.

  • Im home! Holland if officially my new favorite country.

  • Can you see that I've been on a saddle for 8 hours???

Plus I think we lost someone... Hmmm, someone's missing... Can't think of who it could be...

  • can't think either.

  • Im home! Holland if officially my new favorite country.

    Welcome back.

My new favorite film is Breakaway.
