I've only been in London 2 years...there's so much more to do here.I owe way too much money to people just to run off to Paris and i have great friends here.

not to mention my hatred of Paris and the French in general.

I'm confused, you started by saying you'd love to move to Paris and learn French and now you hate Paris (and French people). Any particular reason?

    i can name one :p

  • This really would be a dream. I've been trying to work out how to move to france for a while. I'm mid-way through studies and still owe money though...demmit.

  • sorry i should have added a :) after that statement. i don't hate Paris...I quite like it actually. other then yorgo and FFF i don't mind the French

  • yorgo's greek!

  • i can name one :p

    I knew you'd say that :)

  • Paul who runs the workshop speaks PERFECT English so you won't be out of your depth BUT he wants someone who can competently build bikes and because its a touring shop fit panniers and dynamos and all that kind of anorak stuff - they don't do much frame building anymore because their framebuilder left - they are using this old boy for the moment just for braze ons - BUT - if you are willing to learn this old boy wants to pass on his skills - that bit though is in French - so its a learning curve - BUT- dude - think of it - live in Paris, learn French, learn bike building skills - be the new Sheldon Brown innit

    Sheldon Marron, innit

  • I knew you'd say that :)
i knew, that you'd know, i'd say that.

  • His Mum or Dad(can't rememember which one) is French

  • His Mum or Dad(can't rememember which one) is French

that's enough for me to dislike him.
(I'm going to have to add one of these :) so people know i'm joking)

  • pcked your bags yet!?

    nope!

  • whats the worse that can happen???

  • Sweeping generalisation but a LOT, not all French people hate the English and try to do anything they can to piss us off*. Having lived there since May I can give atleast 53 examples of this
I generally like a LOT, not all French people :-)

*I've also met a few that have bent over backwards for me

how people in london did you piss off in the same time frame? :p

if you attempt to speak french and integrate they are fine. if you don't that's what grates. or maybe because i'm aussie ;)

    No you don't.

It's nothing to do with attempting to speak French, I do that anyway - just certain Frenchies like to try and get one over on the English. Probably the same as some English would like to get one over on the French

  • The ONE golden rule to living in France is to tell the French constantly that you love French culture - they just love being told that - Its like telling English people you enjoy their sense of humour

  • Ouch!

  • This thread is making me so sad...

  • I'm getting PM'ed left right and center so this is to ku*

  • MacDingle, why is this thread making you so sad?

Oh I'd love to be in Paris this afternoon. Autumn weather is just brilliant in Paris. I would sit at a terrace and have a coffee to go with a pain aux raisins and watch the world go by.
