-
• #4
Yeah, it's an amazing opportunity for someone.

Sounds like a job for Chris-le-Crash.

Awesome opportunity for someone. I just wish I didn't have to give 3 months notice to leave my job.
-
• #7
I actually considered it...
-

I'm serious too but I suspect if I hand my notice in today the position would be gone in 3 months time.
I'd also need to find someone to let my room too as there's no way I'd leave Scott in the shit.

Me! ME!
Ive been offerring myself as a similar apprentice to british builders/companies, most being well flaky even though I wasnt too bothered about getting paid.
The only problem is that I dont know a word of french and have never been there before.
Im really surprised they are willing to take on a english speaking employee, might be a tricky few months in the shop!
How do I contact them? Seems they only have a phone number, and I think Ill just make a fool of myself trying to explain/ask about the proposed position.

These guys who are probably the best most reliable bike shop in Paris are looking for a mechanic - they speak English - they will teach you to speak French - and they have a sixty five year old frame builder who wants to pass his framebuilding skills onto the next generation but he cannot find anyone interested in building steel frames - could be a great opportunity this - pm me if you are interested.
@lethal, do you not read????

is that a rhetorical question? or do you really want me to list my reasons?

Paul who runs the workshop speaks PERFECT English so you won't be out of your depth BUT he wants someone who can competently build bikes and because its a touring shop fit panniers and dynamos and all that kind of anorak stuff - they don't do much frame building anymore because their framebuilder left - they are using this old boy for the moment just for braze ons - BUT - if you are willing to learn this old boy wants to pass on his skills - that bit though is in French - so its a learning curve - BUT- dude - think of it - live in Paris, learn French, learn bike building skills - be the new Sheldon Brown innit

so, this is one of those opportunities. it's good to learn another language and you may find a fit french chic, have babies and live happily ever after. it's not as if you'll pay the money back in the next year anyway.
