Also, where can we stay? Any hospitality available from the FFF and the other guys?
PS I'll be keeping the list at the top updated. So just say if you're up for it or not.
PPS Bill, you have to come cos you speak French so well.

very tempting.
- £20 each way for bike booking on eurostar. It's definetely the best option though.

Ok, just spoke to a moody woman at Eurostar after 20minutes on hold.
That weekend is quite booked, so these are our options.
leave Fri 31st (13:10 or 15:00) and return Sunday 2nd (09:43, 13:01, 14:10, 17:13 or 17:43) would be £140 per person.
to return on Monday 3rd, would be £114.50 per person, so doesn't warrant an extra night really. You can take bikes on a luggage so long as they are packed in small bike bags.
I'm thinking about driving there, but just in a car, unless we have enough people for a minibus kind of thing.

Get the midnight ferry from Newhaven to Dieppe for less than £15 (bikes are free), arrive 6am Saturday and get a train from Dieppe to Paris for about 30 euros.

i am provisionally up for this...
-
• #37
if you drive, best way is to take speedferries from dover to boulogne.
Train is very rarely under £140 return, that's what I usually pay, sometimes twice that even... -
• #38
This sounds awesome and I am a definite maybe.
-
• #39
i like sarahs suggestion.

I will be up for this, but only with one of the cheap options, £200-250 for a weekend is a little bit
step for me, and if I go I will like to play too. -

I'm inclined to go for the Eurostar option now, because, rental of a minibus, ferry costs, parking in paris, the responsibility of not-drinking, then a 5 hour drive, will dampen the weekend for me. I'd rather chuck the bike in a bag at St Pancras and relax on the train.
The group bookings are for un-named tickets, but we need ten people. And they require a list of passengers 48 hours before departure, which is no big deal, and from what she said, they are fairly flexible.
Who can afford £140 per ticket?
And, what options do we have for accomodation? hostels? are they bike friendly? don't wanna be locking bikes outside overnight really. Or can we stay at anyones house?

I'm in.
Trying to persuade international de méchanceté too.

• #43
it sounds great...but I've already made the mistake of going to France with no money this year.
so i'm out.
-
• #44
no worries man.
-
• #45
£140 per ticket is fine provided we can sort accomodation out cheeply.
-
• #46
train to newhaven about £25
ferry to dieppe about £20
train to paris about €30Hop's method is going to be the cheapest and doesn't involve anyone having to drive
-
• #47
But how long does that take?

leave about 10 friday evening, get the overnight ferry that get's into dieppe at about 5 in the morning, then train to paris takes about 2 or 3 hours i believe.
So arrive in paris 8 or 9 in the morning on the saturday
Roxy and I have decided a potential yes to Paris. We need to decide soon though, you can get group rates on Eurostar in advance for £50 returns, sounds like the way to go to me.
