I got a hole in my jeans yesterday :(...one of my bollocks almost fell through, gotta repair them now, annoyance!
Might just duct tape them in the mean time.

Would save me money on sack waxing though.

For christmas when i was 15 i got some SPD's for my Giant ATX500 MTB and some shoes which looked like walking boots. They were brown suede effect. My dad had already set the bike up and put the cleats in the shoes so i jump on it then and there in the hallway. Fell off to the left, feet not moving from pedals, not atall. Even when i was on the floor i couldn't work out how to twist my foot out. Ended up taking said walking boots off - still attached to pedals.
Mind you, i had the opposite problem with my egg beaters on my last fixed gear, slipped out a few times skidding. Again, almost definatley my fault.
Cages/straps/vans ftw!

I forget i'm on a fixed gear if i've been riding the ss a bit and try to coast every so often. Its weirder coasting on the ss when i've been riding the fixed gear for ages though, feels like the bike is broken. Fell off with clipless pedals when i did a really big skid on a dirt track, forgot i was clipped in and slowly fell sideways.

First rode spds many years ago. Fell over at traffic lights once in the first week (usual story).
Have ridden them for years since on various bikage without incident...
Until last Fridays mass that is... Riding my fixed charge down the strand in heavy bike traffic I unclipped my right foot, ready to put my foot down and stop as the mass ground to a halt just as someone came up on my right side and forced me to turn left slightly putting me off balance. I then slowly fell to the left with the grace of a ballerina and landed in a laughing heap with just a grazed knee. Much to everyones amusement - including my own.
4 kronenburgs before we sent off may have been a factor...

I'm having a few problems with getting unclipped from one of my Time ATAC Aliums - I don't think they are adjustable as such are they? Also it seems that it may just be one side of the pedal as sometimes it's ok? Could it be the spring on one side is too 'tight'?
Oh and yeah! Slo mo falling off at traffic lights 'cos you forget you are clipped in - nice!!!

Had a few hairy moments on my way home. Sometimes I can unclip just fine but other times it's just plain scary! I think it's tougher to unclip at certain points of the crank rotation too (can't remember which) but I guess it's just down to practice. I also feel as though I've really got to commit to unclipping. Trying to unclip half-heartedly just brings on the fear!
@ eightball - I've got Aliums. As far as I'm aware you can't adjust them. Think you can only do that with the XS model. How far forward on your shoe have you installed the cleats?

Only done it once on the way to work, I admit I did have a major hangover and just got a foot stuck did a nice skid to stop then gently and majestically keeled over in front of my staff waiting for me to unlock my shop............. just a tadge embarrassing ha ha but propper funny though

First time I rode with clipless I was doing great, unclipping very early at every set of lights just to make sure. All great 'till I got to a big right turn at London Bridge. I unclipped really early, slowed right down, then sort of rested my foot on the pedal for some reason just before coming to a complete stop. Heard a faint click and fell over. Haven't a problem since; it all becomes second nature very quickly.

I fell off really badly, into a a huge white van....=[]
it was parked of course...DUH....
wearing someone elses shoes and riding someone else's bike might have been the problem...

14 years ago. Friends Cannondale Super V. I was told that the worst thing to do was to put my arms out incase of wrist breakage........Came to a stop, tried to unclip, toppled like a tree a la del boy through the bar sketch. Classic. Never fallen since:)...........jinxed:(

Yeah I fell over at some lights... outside a bar, 7pm last Saturday! Skills!
If I don't think about it I always try and unclip the right foot when it's forward (too late for a 2nd attempt). That's my 2nd fall in 3 months clipless. I'm shit.

hi, brand new to the forums, pretty much just joined up because of my stack on the way to work this morning and just want to get the embarrasment off my chest and out so i can move on!
i only went clipless for the 1st time last week, and today was my 3rd proper time out on them - so, i clipped both in, rolled of gently but then came to a stop to join the road, in which time i had somehow forgotten i was clipped in, and just toppled over in that way you do when you know there is nothing you can do about it - the worst thing is this happened 30 seconds after leaving my front door on my driveway - on a busy road right next to a bus stop... at least if its somewhere else you can hope you will never see anyone again that clearly saw you collapse in a heap, but when they watch you do it in your front garden! oh dear... lesson "hopefully" learned.... -

also... on my 1st time out on them i stacked it pretty good just outside the gates of Finsbury Park, just totally forgot i was clipped in - nothing to grap onto, nowhere to go except straight to the floor.
pretty sure some of you guys on here must have seen this - last saturday about 8.00am ish, there were LOADS of people around on bikes - i was the fella on a Charge laying on the floor! -

i didn't fall off the first time i rode with clipless pedals. but i have fallen off. usually because i neglected to tighten the bolts holding them onto my shoes.
twist feet, shoes move, cleats stay firmly lodged, badtmy slow-falls sideways. fuck.

No, didn't fall off - but didn't get on with them particularly well either.

I'm currently using the mrs's ladybike to deliver the nippa and commute to work (long story http://www.londonfgss.com/post669158-11.html). Riding fixed has taught me to climb by pulling hard with my back foot and simply leaning my weight on my front foot. Now that I'm riding with metal spikey flats. I keep lifting my foot off the pedal on the way up and missing slightly on the way down. I'll get used to it. I just hope my shins last long enough for me to do so. OUCH!

no but......
fitted my second hand time atacs from snoops after they arrived today,
/attachments/9629practiced clipping in and out using my ebay bought shoes (north wave team mtb shoes) and leaning against the wall. I then set out to the post office tp dispatch some cranks to george sportif. got to the post office and unclipped no problem. on the way back i was absolutely loving them, such a differance to traditional cages and straps. so i decide to test how much easier it is to lock up, the answer is tonnes. go to do it again and my right foot feels very loose
got back, unclip my left foot and just lift my right off the pedal and find this has happened
the shoes could not handle my mad crazy leg strength and committed suicide it seems, rippping themselves in half
and is £30 quid down the drain. lesson learned, do not buy second hand cycling shoes from ebay, save my meagre student pennies for new ones, (or at least a decent brand) proper pissed off but can definately see the funny side of it! but despite a 10 min clipless experience it is definately the best thing since sliced bread and will not be going back!

Northwave are a decent brand. I suspect those shoes have been badly stored.

Been riding clipless for good few years, had no trouble...
....until the marathon ride when I went down like a sack of shit at 0.5 mph, nearly taking out Cornelius. The shame.
Your testes are always hitting the ground everytime you fail a trick James!
