It's Messenjah's bike, the joke being that he is the only messenger and therefore the most hardcore of us all.
O.K. How much of a prick do i feel now.....
Sorry everyone. I got way up there on my high horse, but now i'm "dismounted".Be assured though, i'll always stick up for ya'll.......

Spotted fin today too, hes becoming the right old lean mean delivering machine, just wooshes about.
I also spotted this,
Check those tiny bars, nu rave yellow coordinated grip & tyre, ironic punk stickers, harry lever & hipster mintature lock.
Clearly belongs to some sort of fashionista, I bet it only gets ridden between urban outfitters & selfridges on the pavement.
This Birmingham scene is outta control!
cant see photos on my work computer....is it a pug conversion?
oh actually i don't have ironic punk stickers :) -

instead of mercilessly mocking/heroically defending messenjah, let's all direct our attention to the crappy apollo on the right, and more specifically the brake pad adjustment.
halfords mechanic fail.

Thats so your rims don't wear out.
tyres come and go but rims are for life. -

I think that bike has more pressing concerns such as lack of saddle. Tbh its very much the average brummie bike. Check this effort out from one of our fellow singlespeeders:

i think brown is a good chain lube. it offers water dispersion and friction resistion. i'm a fucking poet. i'll make up as many words as i like.
plus points for that bike are: saggy chain (see blowieben's bike), undone brake adjuster thing. all the wannabe roadies are rocking undone brake adjuster thingies this year.
-
• #133
The chain is looking good - i agree, but has anyone got a set of those forks.....jaw dropping!

That International bike looks quite Jamaican due to the singlespeed setup on a 5 speed cog. However, it has too many brakes for it to be truly Jamaican.

i saw a blue bike and a red bike locked up by the bull out the front of the bullring earlier. didnt want to look like a robber so i didnt check em out for too long, plus it was bloody freezing!

I saw a black guy on a road bike fully kitted out in lycra, at night caning it through the city centre. Fastest ive seen someone ride.
But you want to know the weird thing, his face was painted with glow in the dark paint.
Was a bit surreal but a nice sight none the less.
(this was before it got all snowy by the way)

Not fixed/ss, but saw someone on a MTB during my commute this morning wearing cycling shorts and shoes (without overshoes, natch) cycling through the slush. Don't think I've ever seen a pair of legs that pink before !

So, maybe you can help me put here.
Coming through Kings Heath at around 3.30pm today I spotted this all black frame with red and black taped drops.. cruising with another dude on a grey MTB. I'm pretty sure i've seen it in Moseley before, speaking of which - I clocked an S.E. Lager SS with a red and black checkered top tube protector chained to a lamp post near Sainsbury's.
Anyone? -

Anyone?Might be Zippy's.. He owns/runs Ideal skateshop along with Kris.
As it happens, the skate shop are doing quite good business on their bike range they can get in via Shiner Dist. I think its only SE's they can get in, but they sold a fair few to Custard Factory type people due to Zippy parking it up outside the front door of the shop!
-
• #142
That SE is like Beano on various narcotics.
I like the way zippy runs it freewheel with just a rear brake, like a bmx.
Fucks with the fixie fashion conformists innit.

nice work thomas - once i read your post, i realised where else i had seen it.

Thanks pistaboy. I pretty much live at Ideal during the weeks! The ramp is too much fun not to!

White PK Ripper, narrow-as-fuck bars (and you've seen my bars), blue rims, pink jacket going up Hill Street about 9:40ish
-
• #146
Sounds like Butty. or do you mean a real Ripper like 20" wheels ripper?
-
• #147
700c
I'm pretty sure it was Anthony's bike, I've seen it on your blog.

I spotted bmx_fred's new frame on campus this morning - I forgot he had changed the frame until the spoke pattern jolted my memory.
Also spotted a grey fixed going up Warwards Lane at about 10:30. Rider had a messenger style bag on.

Hello to the rider with the lime green deep v types I passed going the other way in Bearwood around 16:30

Wtf? fixies in bearwood? wtf?
Actually... I saw a lemond in bearwood a few weeks back

Is anyone interested as to why it seems there has been an (mini)explosion of fixed in brum?[/quote]
I absolutely am, I dunno why it's happened all of a sudden. Weirdly enough, there was a crew of three guys in Church Stretton, my ends, last weekend who all had fixed bikes but only watched Fix Up Look Sharp. I've coined them all over to Spinwell and here now so...yeah, why are they all comin' out the woodwork? Anyone got any insight?
Messenjah: you're right, epic lock fail.
