  • Fact Stated. Sounds like it was an eventful session. ;)

  • It was ok but my back hurts

  • Is anyone going for a cruise on Friday?

  • gotta work :(

  • I'm at ATP Festival.

  • ha! - jesus lizard are headling that right?

Last critical mass was thoroughly depressing. Ill go if you go pistaboy.

  • If the weather is reasonable i'll drop you a text mate!

  • il go if weather is good also. whats this about depressing? F that, cause some trouble, that usually livens things up no?

  • Anyone going then? procrastination is a killer.

  • I'm just leaving work.
I'm not sure that i'll be back at reasonable time.... the M6 is usually shocking around this time.
    Sorry guys

  • O.K. so i've dragged this up from the depths of time - to nearly a year to the day when i last posted....
Is anyone considering heading out for Mass tonight, and has anyone been recently?

  • Yeah I'll be heading down.

  • i may go actually - the missus is off galavanting with 'work friends', so i guess i'm free... what are you sayinf pistaboy?

  • just got in. i'm up for it. Wrappin' up tho - i'm fighting the lurgy.....
See you at 6 ish MrWentskiing.... :)
    and you Hyper!

  • cool. i'll be up there about 6.15 i guess.

  • ahhh damn me and my mate were supposed to come down.
    forgot to check the times

  • sorry i had to bail early - the missus misunderstood and had dinner on the table for me...

  • Doghouse 1 - Danwentskiing 0......?
(I'm just kidding - I'm sure you were back in a flash)

    Good to see ya'll tonight!

  • Did I miss it? I was there about 6.20, and found one other guy who was there before me, but he hadn't seen anyone else....

  • Yeah you did, was a surprisingly big turnout and rather decent ride. A comfortable pace for once, covered decent amount of ground too.

For the first time in ages I actually felt it to be pretty valuable, since its got wintry and dark it seems everyone is having near misses due to careless drivers. Seeing a massive bunch of cyclists will hopefully make a few people remember to keep an eye out for bikes.

  • i'm going to walk out on a brittle and flimsy limb and say i don't understand the point.

i've tried a few times, but i still don't get it.

i've got it in toronto - it had a fun/freewheelin'/liberal/carnival/hippyish vibe which you could either love or loathe. also, having around 200 people show up helps.

in brum i it's too slow and antagonistic - drivers see 20-30 cyclists deliberately annoying them as they leave work late on a friday night, compounding their already bad mood. not a good way to tempt people over to an alternative mode of transport. in fact, if this is the aim, i think it has a negative effect ie: "cyclists are self-righteous wankers, i'd prefer to drive, even motorists are more accepted than asshole cyclists".

i propose either speeding up and properly dominating a lane of traffic (as a car would), or making it more of a party atmosphere so at least some of the motorists can get along with it...

  • i second that, i do enjoy group rides but only when theres some pace!

+10000000000000000000000000000 and thats why the last several critical masses I've been to were in london, not here.

maybe bhams mass has changed but last few times i went in bham (over a year now) it kinda felt the FOE bunch monopolised the mass. i started to think thats probably the genuine speed some of them ride at.

And why the hell is it on the 1st friday of the month when the rest of the world does it on the last?!

    rant over.

  • Having been to the party style mass in Manchester a couple of times, gotta agree with the above comments. Get a sound system and some whistles, have a different theme each month, e.g. super heroes, baloons, blue, tweed, halloween, Xmas, Easter, Valentines for starters.

  • Lets change it up then......?
