I've just started my own Peugeot frame find and restoration, does anybody have any good links/suppliers for Peugeot badges? It currently has a transfer, but I want to give it an enamel black respray so would like a metal/pewter badge to finish it off.
This is it after I shined up the drops:

Sorry if that question has been answered in the thread already, but I'm at work posting on the sly.
Basically has anyone got any tips on how to stop the wheel pulling forward on a conversion. I've had to many scary moments of the chain coming off and having to jam my foot on the back tyre.

Just tightened the nuts as hard as possible.

Not converting it to fixed but seeing as this is the place for pugs i thought i'd pop it in here.
Ebay adhttp://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260478666863Now has new tape, tyres, chains, cables, blocks, toeclips etc. Still need to regrease everything from front to back. Just got it safe and livable for the time being. Will do some some new pics soon.

also got this recently for my gf's shopping ss/fixed. currently stripped of all parts and brazeons removed(hardly a puppykill in the case of this frame) off to armortex for the sparkly pink treatment then some porteur bars, basket and such like.
Tandem is french threaded to fuck and feature the hilariously rare 28mm french tandem headset. luckily its not fucked... -

Hi,
Great thread, I have a Peugeot Elan that i got for free, I love freecycle. I want to convert it to FG but have a question, I have the wrong sort of drop outs but am I able to use something like this?
Or is there a better way to do it?
\
Thanks -
• #385
define 'wrong sort' of drop out.
you don't need chain tug really, it's something you can live without.
I find tea towel or tennis ball work the best for tensioning the chain.

Well I have dropouts not track ends, which I thought meant I can't convert to FG or am I missing something?

I've been riding a peugeot carbolite from 85-88. Mostly original parts, including the weinmann levers w/ suicide levers, calipers and drops. I'm not loving their performance. Suicide levers make braking while upright not very responsive, and I don't want to be in a sprinting position the whole time. Final straw was yesterday when I came off as a tourist stepped into the road on oxford street. The bike flipped up and knocked one of the levers, leaving it no longer firmly connected to the drops (I can now move it side to side, up and down).
Basically I'd like to swap out the braking system. Anyone have any experience of fitting modern calipers and levers on one of these old bikes?
-

If you're putting a modern brake caliper on, you'll need to make the fork drillings wider- search it (and the frame if you're running a back brake)
Levers you can just put on...
If your brake lever is coming off, you should be able to tighten with a little screw that's behind the lever: Pull it and you'll see it...Hope this helps

Thanks man. I was looking at ways to tighten them up but as you'll see there doesn't seem to be much to work with, just some smooth metal rings.

Any tips on where to go to do this sort of work in London? Was thinking probs Tour de Ville / Condor though they'll probably shudder when they catch a glimpse of my pug.

Check Sheldon Brown mate, you'll find a lots more information about converting your road frame into a fixed wheel one.
also you don't need a track end for a fixed wheel, the horizontal drop out (assuming that what you got and not a vertical one) were used for fixed wheel as well, even old town bike.

Just read your post properly - Try pulling on the lever and looking into the gap that creates, between the actual lever and the other part of the brake, just below the cable. There should be a screw for a flat head screw driver in there, but you'll have to disconnect your lever to get a screwdriver in there. You really don't need professional help with this. I've only been playing with bikes for about a year and I can do it easily :)
The screw just be just behind were the hole is on this lever

no, you don't need track end, horizontal dropout is perfectly fine.
an example is the Condor Tempo, it doesn't have track end, just horizontal dropout;

But doesn't it need something to stop the wheel flying off and you bailing into the tarmac when you stop peddling?

Here is the said bike, anyone got a Black Wheelset (Flip Flop)?./
