Bit of a nasty ride out there last night, sorry we missed the rest of you die hards..
-
• #103
I'd like to come along for one of these rides, what lights would you recommend?
-
• #104
bright ones!
Edit: this sounds likee a piss take but its true, the brighter the better.

I worked that much out from the thread but it would be handy to know what lights other people would recommend before buying.

I'm using a Hope one, which is more than enough. All depends on how much you want to spend?
-
• #107
Ouch, not looking to spend that much....would this cannondale one do the job?

lights are probably the component where money spend and effect gained are most obvious. I use a 40 GBP cateye which is ok but really envied hillbilly for the brighness from the Hope. You might want to consider a headlamp as it gives the possibility to see left and right the road and make out deers before the decide to step in your line.

So this is the last Thursday night ride till the cull is over. Whos going to come along and have some fun?
Be warned its getting mighty cold in that park at the mo.Stanpike I would say dont bother with Cannondale light, have a look at some of the Cateye lights. They'll be a little more but a whole lot better.
Hope to see everyone there.

Wouldn't mind a go at this, to save reading the whole thread, what time does it start and where do you meet? I'm in highbury, anyone near?
-
• #111
as to celebrate the last ride before end of cull i am in. that said, might bail out in case the weather turns as nasty as last night.
meeting roehampton gate, realistic for me would be 7:15 -
• #112
I'm with Claus, i rode last night no gloves no bar tape and the ends of my fingers are still sore from the whole wretched experience.. On the other hand a ride in the park would be nice.. Hopefully we'll get there without incident and be at the gate for 7:15 this week..

Won't be up for this guys, I've got to fret over a halloween costume for a certain pumpkin-themed bike ride on Fri. Oh and sleet is forecast.
REmember the cull needn't stop Thurs nights in RP- it's just that it closes to the public @ 8.00pm -
• #114
I can't make this one
-
• #115
looks like it will stay dry from now. i am on my way out to roehampton gate. should be there by 7:15

I'm out, appologies, work and a cold to boot..
-
• #118
SHIT! I'm out. I completely forgot and I have people coming to view my house.
Anyone intrested in having a go at RPM's Saturday training session instead? Just whilst the park is closed in the evening.

It will be fine. I went through on my way to work on Teusday at 8:00 and nearly froze my nuts off. But its nice.
I just had a call from Claus, looks like he's doing some laps on his own to night. Sorry mate.

-
• #122
Anyone interested in going down tonight? figure on pushing off at 7 so I can comfortably be out of there by 8 given that's when the gates lock tonight due to deer cull
-
• #123
Next week for sure, but have to see me ma and pa tonight. You coming on the bridges ride gus?
-
• #124
Anyone doing the 21st? I'm a newby to what appears to be a regular evening ride. What time do you gentlemen, and ladies although i suspect few if any, meet and where?
-

caleb, it is usually 19:00 roehampton gate. from the first week of november mid of december (6 weeks) the cull is on in Richmond Park. that means one has to be out by 20:00. I think I will join again when the cull is over and go ride north london in the mean time. i think gustav and hillbilly are determined to keep rolling in RP. watch this space for updates.
