  • She was an absolute scream when we were at Catford. Kept on telling us the names of the riders so we could shout them out.

  • ALL riders were called Tim

  • she was wearing a pearl necklace as well...

  • cheers to everyone for the support. legs were rusty after the ride down to catford, stuffed my gear change on the first 25% bump, losing all momentum, had to grind the 2nd 25%, only 2.30.2 :( . sun came out on the ride to bec and felt much better. held the bigger gears for longer and was much faster 2.23.6 for 39th, lactic to the eyeballs. ride back was glorious, even though the headache started half way back.

i'm still amazed on how quick the races went, both felt like one minute, although the last bits were just a haze with people yelling :O

big congrats to illy who flew up catford with 2.17 ish. the ginger guy is a good rider, was chatting to him after the races!

    awesome pics!!

  • Look at the pain on Dale's face! Looks like he's about to start crying... :[

  • everything was a blur at the point, no time for crying!

  • Oh man looked like such a good day!! Well done to all who took part.. wish i could have made it..

  • why does dale's head distort in photos? it doesn't look nearly as wierd in real life

  • Since he shaved it does. Egg head.

  • he looks like the pie guy from the Dandy. Dangerous Dan?

Congrats for Bec, Dale (even with such a funny head you did well) sorry couldn't stay to cheer!

  • why does dale's head distort in photos? it doesn't look nearly as wierd in real life

wide angle lens so 'barrel' distortion (as opposed to 'pincushion' of telephoto lenses)
plus a bit of movement from the camera and dales head bobbing like a dockside cabin-boy getting some trade.

  • ah, thank you Mr Smith - however I do understand the technical reasons, it was more a philosophical question about the general oddness of his look that tickled me. Notice that he looks the same even in the non-wideangle shots.

To be fair to dogs, most of the competitors looked like the kidnapped riders from Belleville Rendezvous by the time they got to the top (wheezing, swaying head, teeth bared). And I can't blame them for it.

  • But Dale was by far the fatest. Poor thing.

  • what were those magic 'shane warne' diet pills you've been taking?

  • dale makes the front page:

  • Be careful.. you don't want his odd shaped head getting bigger. ;)

  • Well done for taking part. I took a few more photos and they can be found here:

  • nice photo's. this guy came 2nd at catford and won Bec, his legs are as skinny as the frame :O

  • no weight to carry!

Looked a great day out, pissed i missed it

Much respect Illy and Dale. to be able to pull faces like that whilst trying to ride is an art form.
Loving the old hipsters... i can't wait to fast forward 30 years and see the state of the next generation!

  • I reckon a few blurred photos of bikes are going to arise on this section of hill. ;)

Not sure how to link Flickr photos but I sense a theme developing here
