Loud fucking motorbikes

it's the way the HF in the ignition coil makes the freeview box go all blippy that really annoys me.

wow.. cant believe theres people who dont like the sound of a huge gutsy motorbike. its one of the finest noises in the world damn you! ;)

Gutsy motorbike sound = Cool sound. Although sometimes scary.

Moped/Scooter = Shite, annoying sound. Like a hairdryer on steriods. Lame and never scary.

edscoble, am I right in thinking you're 'hearing-imapired'? Is it perhaps possible that because loud bikes are audible to you that you think they're unacceptable, or something? Or that these noises may sound worse to you because you don't hear so much of the more subtle hum of the city that never ever stops.
(Not trying to be rude, a serious question.)

I personally think if you don't like noise (there's a piece in Guardian yesterday about how noise can cause stress and shit) you're probably not that wierd. But we live in the world's greatest city, its a noisy place. I think if I need proper peace and quiet one day, I'm gonna have to move to the Yorkshire Moors or the Western Isles and grow my own veg and meditate, and perfect my yoghurt weaving techniques.

I sometimes get a bit upset by choppers and sirens. Motorbikes and peds can be annoying when they're being revved stoopidly, I agree with you on this.

I didn't mind the subtle hum of the city, after all I did used to live near the main road in Clapham since I was born until I moved to Wimbledon, but irresponsibly loud motorbike (and boy racer I forget to mentioned, in their little poxy french car sounding like an electric razor on steriod) is the only thing irritated me really, the humming and rumble of London is music to my ear (thought I can hear fuck-all when I go to sleep)

I have hearing aids I can hear everything as much as you can, just couldn't recognised the sound better than you do.

edited: I love the sound of a gusty motorbikes as well(thought I usually prefer the smooth noise of a decent engine car like a Rover V8).
