Datchett St for me - off Darling St down towards the ferry. Great spot. Old sandstone cottage which I wanted to buy but a lack of cash got in the way. Worth a fortune now. Bought my first bike for years there and couldn't get up the hill from the ferry. The shame...

Great ride, somehow missed the Millenium bridge and lost site of everyone for a short while. Also minor detour down the A4 late in the night. The East brigade, in spite of a 2 min warning, were off with a shot back home. Looking at the speed, glad I joined the North crew back into town before splitting off. Looking forward to coming back to London for the next. Cheers.

We were up near the Colgate building, but did look at a place on Paul St down by the ferry stop. Massive outside veranda with views of the city and the bridge. Just a little high on the rents though, bummer.

A load of us (10 > 15) were waiting on Vauxhall bridge for almost 30 minutes whilst you all diverted to Trafalgar Sq. We didn't know! You bastards.
Traffic lights (with fast moving traffic) had cut the pack into groups, and when we saw the front lot turn right up towards Downing St we just figured you were all plonkers for not knowing that you turn left to get to the next bridge, that you'd figure it out, or that you were all dead set on going back to do Hungerford Bridge. It would have been nice if detours like that were communicated, the 10+ included some great people, and it was nice to stop and chat, but we got cold waiting for you all to catch up again.
Has this all got too big? The ride as one pack thing? We could declare in advance any detours, and just let people ride at their own pace and space. This would reduce a lot of the danger as a hell of a lot of accidents did occur, and would keep people moving and not waiting around at places.
There's nothing wrong with 150 people starting as one group, but 150 people waiting for a puncture to be repaired is plain daft. Especially as this is the bridges route, it's not like anyone is going to get lost... just follow the river. I'd understand if we were going to Winchester and needed to stay together for navigation and safety, but on a known route with some narrow areas splitting up would probably be better for navigation and safety.
till when where you waiting ? cos i was there untill 11pm ish and saw no one at all, so i headed up to Kew by myself, i saw no one though.

Yup, that's my point:
So what I'm saying is, can we get over this idea that no-one will be left behind and that we need to ride as one huge group. It's neither practical or safe.I liked the that we all stuck together. Being a newbie my biggest concern was getting a puncture in the middle of nowhere and being left behind. The large group also slowed the ride down which I think made it more accessible to people who were worried about the pace you regulars ride at. Also Like someone mentioned before it gave it a more social feel which I enjoyed.
Also who was the girl in all black that kept testing my masculine pride by effortlessly zooming past me?

The sheer ecstasy of a quick tyre change? The impressive teamwork involved getting that fella back on the road? The Tyskie? Probably the Tyskie. Hilarious and enlightening nonetheless.

yeah agreed on the stop/start thing being okay. sure it's slightly frustrating if you're used to rolling faster, but the bridges ride is normally a fun ride... not about speed/distance. it encourages newbies to get involved if they know they wont be dropped. plus it's social! and gives you more time to drink beer! we organise quicker rides on this forum too, if anyone's after a bit of speed.

@vinylpimp - thank your mate for sharing his pics. I spoke to him a couple of times on Saturday; he said it was his first time riding fixed, and he was doing it with an SLR round his neck or in his hand all night - good effort!

Brighton night ride, at this rate it may take a while as I myself have no idea where it is, i'll start from central London and keep going south =P
I'd say it'd be a better idea if a more experienced member was to make it offical, for health reasons.
