  • is this vacancies or wanted??

    Vacancies.

I should have said 'in London' for mine as well.

  • I'm a fuckwit who's looking for a job where I can browse the web and watch TV.

Hang on, I'm already doing that in my current job.

    Move along.

  • My last day at work on Friday. I need to find a job sooner rather than later! Any info about any jobs is very welcome!

  • What do you know how to do?

  • wanted 1 x forum administrator for friendly fixed gear forum

  • Yeah Dougie, what sort of thing are you after (generally), and what was your previous job?

  • I'm after freelance design work - pm for my folio if you've got owt - ta.

  • @ GP - Would that be paid? ;)

I've been working at a Music TeleVision company for the past 3 years as an International Programming Operations Co-ordinator. I have a degree in Multimedia Design and a lovely personality! I need to update my CV quickly and will then have it to send out next week.

  • @ tomasito

I'm keeping my options and mind open to anything. I have worked in TV since uni but the role I am leaving mostly involves logistics and 'co-ordinating' deliveries with internal departments, roughly 26 countries and external UK companies. So I could use those skills in a different area other than TV.

Anyone got any projects that could do with an extra pair of hands?

  • I'm looking for a new job at present - I'm a proofreader, so anything anyone knows of in that kind of editing field would be helpful. I don't know InDesign but I can learn it.

  • vic: What does a proofreader do exactly? Do they check for grammatical errors, typos, spelling and stuff or is there more to it? Do they check sources of info, the facts, etc?

    Yours,
    Mr B I Keurious

  • seriously good idea for a thread- who can put this at the top with the ebay one? do it!

I wonder if in years to come whether people will write stuff on the internets part in bringing people together to help each other through the recession?

if hope this forum/thread gets repped

  • So I have finished at my now 'old' job and on the hunt for a new one. I am looking for something possibly in broadast, or post production in a non-technical role.

I do have transferrable skills though, as although my last job was in media, my role involved a lot of distribution and coordinating, which could be adapted to other fields.

I have my CV sorted if anybody would seriously like to look at it.

Well, interesting question. I don't know if my role is similar to that of other [more conventional] proofreaders, but yeah, I basically check all of the above and make sure that the person has used the right answer, that it is consistent and sits well with Government policy (which is kind of a bit wrong since civil servants are meant to be politically impartial). Since I used to draft the material that I now check, I'm familiar with sources, facts and policies but I have to make sure it's all up to date as well. Generally I have to be all-knowing.

But I do not apply any of my job skills to my posts in this forum though (where's the fun in that?). I am not Platini-proof and have no desire to be so. Ha!

  • Cheers vic.. I was always the guy who was asked to read over people's assignments in school/uni so I wondered if there was a career opp. in there for me. Not sure about government policies though.. I was thinking more 'cycling magazine' or 'local news' :)

If it's something you're interested in, what about Transport for London / Department for Transport? I always thought Culture, Media and Sports would be an interesting (i.e, less painfully boring) Department too - once you have experience (and it's quite easy to get into here), I imagine it's pretty easy to then move into press. One of my colleages went from here to a newspaper, for example.

  • Working for Transport for London.. that's pretty funny! (see Nursery thread) :)

I'm gonna milk it here for a while but journalism, proof reading, 'stuffz wif wordz n shit' was something I was looking at before I managed to drop straight back into I.T. again.

    Fanks for the info!
