go to a reputable bike shop you have had recommended to you, and still beware. This^ place sounds like its really bad.

OK seeing as we're all clusterfucking about beaters, I am in the market for a SMALL mixte (i.e. 'womens', step thru frame) that needs a bit of love. Anyone?

  • I currently have a 56 cm Raleigh road frame and i'm in the process of upgrading. If I get the one I want tomorrow on ebay you can have it for £40.

It is a rattle can job and has a number of scratches now.

How does that frame ride? I have a frame pretty much like that. But it's built up with all of it's old stuff, I.e. Chainguard and whatnot. I've been thinking of stripping it but I've also been thinking it'll be alot of kicking and swearing getting all the stuff of so would be good to know if it's a nice ride.

  • @MaxW: I have never owned a track frame so I don't really have a comparison. This one rides absolutely fine though. The reason that I want a new one is purely aesthetic: clearance. I guess this frame should have 27" wheels but has 700c instead. If that doesn't bother you, do it.

  • comfortable, track frame are less comfortable but massively responsive and fast, but an old road bike make a great starter; comfortableness of a road bike but with a fixed wheel.

  • I've got a large red Mercx copy frame (you've seen them about) i will sell with original wheels for £50. PM me if interested and I'll get you some photos.
