unfortunatley i have cottered cranks so im stuck with 46 teeth up front
therefore 22t isn't ideal as it only 11 skid patches
23t is 1 skid patch
24t is 12 skid patches (not bad)
but by far the best is 25t with 25 skid patches and 48.5GIso thats why i'm hunting down a 25t
You'd be better off replacing the cranks. I've not ever seen a 25t sprocket. Although I'd never seen a 24t either until I found mine at a jumble.

That's what Adrienne is on right now. You coming up to Downham this aft, Matt?
nopes. got work to do. :( was working yesterday too after a quick pit stop to cavendish and ten ten tei.

Mmmmm ten ten tei. although kulu kulu wins out most times.

39T/25T fuck yeah.... 50 skid patches...... and fuck all G.I

You're going to be even more shit now.

34/22 with 152mm cranks
niceee

did you won the cranks in Ebay last week?
-

These are sugino cranks from a recumbent. 110bcd
has anybody thought of modifying some triple road/mtb cranks, and using the inner most ring? 22 is common on most mtb cranks.
Machine/hack away at the rest of the crank, use a slightly longer bottom bracket for the chain line and you will have options of even smaller gears.though i think anything under 40" is a bit of an over kill perhaps. Though you could run 22/15 for extra b/b shot clearance

• #62
That's what I've done with Adrienne's polo bike - except using the middle ring (36) rather than the inner (26). Except there was no hacking needed. Old Sugino cranks with a bolt holding all three rings together.

I'm actually thinking something similar, except I'm going to keep two chain rings on and use the smaller one with a big cog for polo and the big one with small cog for riding... aleviating the limits of the chain/dropout length...
Eg 42x15 and 36x21...

Isn't that the aim?
Hmmm, has anyone ever run ratio below 1?

48/20--->65 G.I.
and we wonder why i am always a step behind? -

36 21 is tiny
I have finally sorted it all out and now have:
36 x 26...
(not quite as spinny as you'd think as I have 27inch wheels and 170mm cranks, still according to sheldon 36.4 gear inches)
13 skid patches... if I was actually able to skid... (I can always put it up to 39 and have 26 patches, 52 if ambi skiding...)
From playing at wests (where it was 2v2 and a massive pitch) I'd say it's not too spinny at all.
and with the double chain ring and fixed/fixed hub I currently cycle home on a 42x19, but I'm going to try to squeeze a 16 in it's place... failing that a 17 will certainly fit.Oh and the larger chain ring acts as a bash gaurd! :-)

Khornight2, where'd you score a 26t cog?
Fixed gearing, 41x24 (45.1 GI).
Free gearing is 41x26 (41.6 GI). A fine old piece of T.D.C. craftsmanship... -

I think JD on this forum may have a 26t left.
How's that freewheel working out Mike?
-
• #71
42x28 - 40.1GI FTW!!!
2 skid patches :D -

Yep of JD in the classified threads... think the title is about 22t, last post I saw said he had one left.
Here :
http://www.londonfgss.com/thread18038.htmlEddie where did you get 28 from?! I want it, even though the more I think about it, I don't really need it!

hah its a welded in cassette wheel.
everything but the largest cog you screw off and weld in the biggest fucker to the hub.
I should've done up the one with a 32 :) -

You mean how's my hip? I've worked out what went wrong that sent me over the bars... squeezing the brake while still pedaling! It works in a similiar way of trying to stop pedaling a fixed wheel.
I'm almost happy with my 41x24, the 26 freewheel was a bit too spinny for anything bigger than downham. I would go to 39x24 though...

Ha!
I had a similar moment in goal when I was trying to reposition my feet whilst hopping not realizing I was holding the brake.
Freaked me out big time!
