Damn, i cant believe i made it to work, ordered a new tire on tuesday but due to postal strikes i havent received it yet, on the way hom last night a hole appeared in my tire and i subsequently punctured, being about a mile away from home i thought i'd see if i could make a temporary fix for the problem, so patched it with a receipt from my wallet, success!
managed to get about 30psi in before the tire was bulgin too much, so slowly rode home like that, no dramas, then figured i must have an old ture somewhere at home that i could use, but no luck there, decided to risk it on the way to work this morning so rode the shortest route to work whihc is about 7 miles and somehow survived, now just got to hope that this new tire arrives today!
heres a a picture of the tire, the pink bit is the receipt!

has it turned up? that does look like it'll die any second.
you need more skid patches, the rest of the tyre looks fine.

i have 19 skid patches supposedly!
rest of the tyre is pretty shoddy as well but it does seem to have worn more in that particular spot but its paper thin all over with 4 main spots similar to that one and little chunks missing out of it everywhere!
new tyre hasnt turned up but in an attempt to spend myself out of the credit crunch i went to see elsquire at lunchtime for a new armidillo, and will have the rando as a back up, or maybe put the armidillo on my road bike for the winter.

randonneurs are quite a soft tyre. I've found that the randonneur cross (same price) seems to have a bit more rubber on it. They lasted a lot longer than my current one.
dillos are good but heavy, and the randonneur is more comfy and pleasant to ride in my experience.
