  • Review pending..

See? Now thats what I've been talking about! :)

Go on Mergatron, start a dedicated Review section. VB won't know if we keep it quiet like. :D ;)

  • When I say 'review' what I mean is, it'll be me saying 'they're shit' in some thread after they fall off my bike or leak or something :)

VB might be incorporating reviews in the redesign.

  • Reviews on here will be shit.

    • Component doesn't quite match the Pantone reference of my frame. 3/10

    • It's good because I've read other reviews on the internet saying it's good. Don't actually own it. 9/10

    • Got a puncture on my first ride, so must be a bad tyre. 2/10

    • etc

  • You just nailed my first three reviews. Are you psychic?

  • I have two of the exposure front lights (joystick and diablo) i also have two of their rear lights that piggyback off the front light.

Even had a cabbie comment on how good they were two days ago.

I'm psychic to the power of rad.

    • A cabbie said my lights were good, but he wasn't too keen on blacks. 9/10
  • Nah, Snow (because it's white) & Rock (because record companies typically used it as a lazy music genre distinction to mean 'white').

  • Either way, you won't find any Blacks in his cab.

  • was she a good ride?

  • After much research and deliberation (and my sudden realization that the nights are drawing in!) I've decided to purchase one of these lights:

The design is almost a direct replica of the already well reviewed lupine tesla but with the extra feature of a digital readout on the battery
The video reviews below are all for the previous MJ-808 but they all seem to say for the money you can't go far wrong!

He plunges the head unit underwater at the end!

  • Mrs Bigtwin purchased a Cateye EL600RC Single Shot yesterday, at a whopping £75 from the LBS. Just tried it outside - it's rubbish. Far less bright that the $10 cree I got from DX, and a different and far less brilliant world from my recharge I got from them. Reallllly really unimpressed and really poor for the money. Put it on charge overnight (said it was charged according to the charger though) and if it's not a LOT better, it's going straight back.

  • Do cateye make anything worth buying?

  • Yeah...

    Lights? No

  • It would be good to have some reviews, this thread has convinced me of it- so much information, yet after trawling through it I am still not really any the wiser.

I think I will probably get a Hope Vision One because Reen has one, and I trust his opinion.

  • Clefty has one too, and I trust her opinion.

  • Hope are good, but ugly IMHO.....

My ayups are good and pretty....... And will last for years :0)

  • hope 1's are big, fat and ugly. and overpriced.
the fenix, is just as good and half the price/weight

  • Who gives a fuck what a light looks like? It's dark anyway, you twats.

Fenix don't have the runtime - a battery swap is all well and good, but a bit of a faff on a group night ride.

Ayup's mounting system is crap if you use them on more than one bike. Zip ties, FFS. I might have got some if they'd designed a silicone strap or something.

it looks like a sex toy

Another Ay-up user here, been using them for 2 years now and still think they are great. So sturdy, have dropped them heaps of times while drunk, cold, or trying to do to many things at once, and they are still working great, a few small chips in the casing but these things are rock solid. Have a narrow helmet mounted unit and a medium spread lens on the bars when I'm mountain biking.

My Ayup came with three bar mount units, and two helmet mounts, so I just use the same set of lights on 3 different bikes. You can buy extra mounts for only a few £ too.

Yeah, I wouldn't buy a Hope. They are just too bulky.

Yeah, I know, but I reckon they'd get more sales if they went for an inbuilt QR system that also worked with their Gecko helmet thingy.

I've got an aversion to zip ties, except as an emergency measure/bodge.

totally agree, a good maufacturer shouldn't have to rely on zip ties for a secure mounting of a light.
