You wouldn't have to sue them, consumer rights etc.

They are rubbish.
Ive killed 2 of those. They fill with water in even moderate rain, turn themselves off, shatter when dropped.
Blackburn Mars 3 FTW. 1 on seatpost, one on bag. Im lit up like a christmas tree.

they do shatter when dropped, thats true, but apart from that i've had a couple over the last 6 years or so and ridden them in all conditions without any issues.

I have 3 sigma cuberiders out back. As its really fecking dark up here, and I like carrying a spare. They do their job well and I havent had one fail yet. bit of a git to remove though.

I use the cube rider & tail guard, both fantastic.

I hate cateye. Their brackets are a disgrace
I've just bought a new cateye and it's a different bracket design to the one they used to use. It now stays put on the handlebars. -

The unit will be fine - it's intelligently heat-sunk. My batterypack/charger packed up after 3 months of pretty minimal use. Their attitude was simply "screw you" you can buy another at full price. Which is a disgrace, but they know you aren't going to sue them in the states if you're from over here.
This is what worries me. I currently use two 10w halogens, I have two Li-ion batterys mounted which can run each light individually, or both with a tiny extension I carry. If I had both lights fail. I simply could'nt get home from most of the places I cycle, so I carry extra parts. I'd rather spend out and feel safe TBH.

I know what you mean - I carry basic spare lights of the led variety to get home. Problem is, battery failure etc is a function of the technology. Most of the parts are out of the same factory etc, it really doesn't get a lot better from make to make, once basic benchmarks are passed. One thing about DX is that there are a lot of techno geeks on there who know what's what in terms of parts and build.

Rights are one thing, enforcing them is quite another.

Charlietm, have you not seen the list on page one of this thread? They're a few there to choose from.
-
• #867
Yes i have.
It doesnt mention viewing angles or how easy they are to detach from a bike though. Can anyone help?

Never had any problems with Cateyes actually - and certainly had no problem with them failing in the wet.
I thought I’d lost my front light a few months ago until I noticed a flashing light in washing machine. I’d left the light in my shorts and thrown them in the wash, being knocked around in the washing machine had turned them on and they survived the whole wash. I’ve used them every day since.

Funny that, I'd only just been asking if this forum could have a separate review section.
Oh well. Someone will be along eventually to help you out, hopefully.

I've got a smart kidney 3 quid jobbie on one bike which is fine.... On another, the 1/2 watt smart one with the flashy clear dot in the middle..... This is much better/ brighter and they both last for hours..... Hey are sometimes on gaybay pretty cheap...

Im using one of these as a front light as it clips nicely onto the strap of my bag, but I'd like something with a bit more balls. Anyone know of a clippy one that will kick out a bit more light? This thing is a 5 LED

Balki: I use two of those (front and rear) on steady attached to my bag, along with blinking Blackburn Flea USB lights attached to the bike itself. I’m sure I’m not the brightest thing on the road, but I also can't imagine needing more than that for shortish trips around well lit roads in London.
Considering a set of lights that attach to the wheels for when it gets really dark. Side-on visibility. But they mostly seem to be cheap novelty toys than proper lights. -
• #873
Yeah, I really like the way they mount as I dont need anything on the bike itself. Maybe they are bright enough.

It's swing and roundabout.
I have too many cateyes to mentioned since 2004, 75% of the time they're wonky, but the remanding 25% work perfectly despite mounting issue.

The fleas are shit!
Bad Points
-Mounting system is crap and slips as the silicon gripper falls off
-Not even a bit waterproof both my front an rear broke in the rain
-Battery life is pitiful!
-Expensive for what they areGood points
-Relatively powerful
-RechargeableTrust me avoid them!
