I'm afraid I'm not sure about the batteries, I've never replaced the pack, I just charge them via a USB - possibly a moon custom job. Probably worth noting it doesn't come with a mains charger, just a cable you have to plug into a computer - means it takes more time. I imagine Moon would sell a replacement pack, sorry I can't be more help.
The indicator seems to drop from full power pretty quick, and 75% a little less quickly but generally gets to 50% and stays there for quite a long time, I can't think if mine has ever gone below 50% but I recharge it fairly regularly in the winter. It claims that once the power is waning it will automatically select the brightest setting that will last an hour. But As my commute is only about 40-45 minutes, I've never experienced it happening.

I imagine its a usb cable so you can plug it into any phone charger plug that takes a usb also.

Yup, it's USB. I'm just never sure how volts and amperage affect these things.
@aggi this review for the 1700 model shows the batteries: https://www.sevendaycyclist.com/moon-meteor-storm-pro-front-light

<0.5A is the slow charge mode, >0.5A is the faster mode.
The source of said amperage is irrelevant.

Cheers, look like they are custom from what I can tell.

They get good reviews alright. Build quality and battery life would be the two things I'd be looking for. Main roads for the majority of my commute so don't need them crazy bright.
Looks like I can get the Switch front light and TraceR rear light for a little of €100 on Chainreaction which seems alright, pushing my budget a bit but if they last...

I bought two of these and they're amazing for a tenner. If you spend any more money on a front light, you're a tart. There's no need.

Anyone bought the Aldi fly6 knock off

I've been using the trustfire trd017 for around a year and would definitely recommend it. Look around in eBay for cheaper https://www.trustfire.com/en/bike-light.html

Needs helmet mount.

No redundancy. Shitty beam pattern. Overly complex product.
Easier to run multiple single-lens MJ-808e clones.

so about 3 years ago I bought a helmet mounted ali express light for mtb night riding duties. it is good but battery a bit shit now when on full blast
wouldn't mind upgrading to something more reliable and spending a bit more cash. £100ish? must I go higher? do I need a bar mount one too? I find helmet is really good as the light beam follows where you are actually looking... rather than a bar mounted one. I have a 400lm bar mounted lezyne too for a bit of extra help
it must last for 2 hours :-) any help much appreciated

Got gifted one of these Decathlon lights and it's surprisingly good. Tiny, bright, holds a decent charge, really easy to use (remembers last setting). Reviews seem to focus on the clip breaking but I can't see it happening unless you seriously manhandle it. I want another one but they don't ship. Guess I'm cycling to Decathlon - luckily there's an ikea next door so I'll be able to get some other swag too.

Here's your solution....I'm a huge exposure fan. On my second more powerful Diablo after losing my first after 5 years and it worked perfectly. I'm sure this is as good. And it's in the sale and meets your budget!

'I'm a huge exposure fan'......
I may regret that phrase!😀

thanks for the suggestion. I really like the idea of no cables but only 1.5hr on full might be a bit limiting...

reviews look good though. might couple it with a cheapo chinese bar mount one for backup

Anybody using a Cateye volt 1200? Need something brighter than my current model, the volt 300. Would like a volt because I have the fork mount bracket already.
-
• #4647
I have the 1000, definitely helps you to be more noticeable in the in city and for darker parts of the countryside.

Cheers, they don't seem to be a bad price at the moment, keep swaying between the 800 and 1200. I'm sure my indecisiveness will come to an end shortly.
-
• #4649
If you don’t mind the weight and size then 1200 IMO

Got the 800 the other day. Found it no brighter than my Tredz Izone 600 lumen light. If you're looking for more brightness I would go Volt 1200.
Are the batteries standard (e.g. 18650) or some custom effort? Also, how is the battery indicator, the current Lezyne lights I have seem to indicate low battery about 20 minutes in advance straight from indicating full battery. Cheers.
