  • Same thing has just happened to me after using it in the wet. Wouldn't turn off, then wouldn't turn on after I dried it out. Great light and I'm getting another one for racing, but not suitable for use in the wet.

  • Yep, I think it was last Sunday that did for it. Seven hours in conditions that went from wet to rediculous.

I've emailed the shop about a replacement and assume it should be a straight swap. I'll keep it as a spare I think, but have purchased an Exposure Blaze today in the hope that it's properly weather proof and has a decent run time. I'll post feedback once I've tested it fully.

  • I tape the USB port of the moon if wet

  • Moon Comet will die if it been directly exposed to water for a prolonged period of time (in this case, lack of mudguard).

They usually do have good sealant, but as @Netakure mentioned, the USB port is usually the main culprit.

  • After ballsing about with plenty of other lights, i plumped for some Exposures. Joystick front, flare on my helmet and flare rear do me well for semi lit commutes. Build quality seems impeccable.

  • I just got a second hand Lezyne Super Drive, the guy had it for 2 years and said the battery would last at least half an hour, perhaps more. Has anyone replaced their Lezyne Lithium-ion, rechargeable 18650 batteries with cheaper ones, can you recommend any?

  • Had a similar issue with my Moon Comet, strangely the front rather than the back one. In (off) mode it would be lit up, and then switching it on would simply make it brighter. This happened after a 3 hour ride in moderate drizzle

Did this for a few days and then seemed to stop - I think it's alright now, but will either tape up USB port or simply leave at home during the next rainy ride.

  • Invested in an Exposure Diablo 3 years ago and can honestly say it's been brilliant (sorry). Bullet proof - I've hurled it down the road several times - in filthy conditions it has never faltered. Charged it goes on for hours n hours if you manage the brightness control. I've used it on and off road - night time MTB too. Always helmet mounted. What more can I say - worth the money - and it was a lot of money.

  • I was worried about the USB opening and water, so taped it up every time it was used. I can safely say that wasn't what broke the light. If I use it in the wet again I'll tape up both the USB and on/off switch. And maybe design it a small umbrella and matching wellies.

  • I bought another two Exposure lights off ebay recently because I like them so much but I'm still a tightarse. One is going on da chick's bike and the other is a spare race light. They rock.

  • What's a good light for the back end of a saddlebag? Something small and omnidirectional or diffused since it'll be bouncing around.

  • Bit of a late reply to this, but the B&M and Nordlicht bottles (both sadly over £4) are well rated. The former are supposed to be minimally draggy if properly set up and the latter are very solid.

  • Mike Hall rates these..

I bought one for the 24hr Worlds because their old rules said I needed a 3-LED light. Then they updated their rules so I just use my Exposure Flare.

  • if you can that would be better... i don't want to carry around another usb cable nor do I always have a laptop to-hand to charge. does anyone have these lights?

  • I've got one of these which has the benefit of a built-in reflector https://www.ridepdw.com/goods/lights/radbot-1000

  • Lezyne macro duo.
There must be a cheaper version somewhere. Right?

  • Stripped one of my old Exposure Flare lenses the other day and they sent me out a new one free, that day. I can't believe they actually respond to emails on the same day too.

  • These are mentally bright, especially the Scorpion rear, seeing more of them about recently.

Had to chase down the 1st rider I saw with one, to find out what he was using, it was way more visible than anything else I've seen around.

  • But they are a fortune in batteries right? Hence I got another Smart Lunar.

  • I use rechargeable batts and have no idea how much they cost me.

A tenner for two according to this..

I do use non-rechargeable for racing because they last a full race. Last one I bought was in the USA though so again no idea how much it was. 3-5 bucks maybe?

  • Probably ideal for a 24 yes. That price I had assuming they would fit in my charger. But then they last how long on blink, about a week commuting? Next time I upgrade to shorter recharge intervals then.

  • Hi - does anyone have anyone have any suggestions on the best dynamo lights for commuting? I'm getting tired of continually charging my set of USB lights... would rather have a set that I don't have to do any maint to...thanks in advance

  • ^ There was a lot of dynamo discussions on the Touring thread recently.

  • these just in. have to fiddle around a bit for helmet fixture, as both have a concave bit underneath for handlebar mounting

figured they were worth a shot a that price
