Test ride with them tonight...
keen to know what the lockblocks are like - I've also just got DT cree lights, was going to try the inner-tube origami mount, but I don't mind shelling out 5.50 apiece on the lb so long as they are rock-solid
have to say the pics don't inspire much faith.. looks like a single fabric strip pulled over the top of the light - surely would allow for slippage?

Brief report - I think the cree torches are excellent value for money - the beam throw is about the width of a standard road and pavement, so plenty gets illuminated, and it's fairly far reaching (it was shining brightly on road signs around 100 metres away). Having a pair of lights (one either side of the stem) helps too I think, they look a bit like moped headlights to oncoming traffic, and I noticed that far fewer cars turned across me, and a taxi even stopped and gave way at a busy spot where that never normally happens.
The lockblocks are great, the velcro is the super-strong type, you really have to yank on it to get it to separate and undo. The plastic holder pieces are also soft rubber and automatically mould to whatever that are wrapped around, so you can really crank the velcro holding straps tight. No slippage or wobbles at all.

+1... I had my doubts about them too but they are very secure and rattle free (unlike many of the 'normal' bike attachments I've used). Super-quick removal too obviously...

Can anybody give me any first hand information/opinions about the blackburn flea?
Scored FIRST in this review:

...that was the subject of another thread on this forum:

BTW, anyone has some experience with the Spooklights wireless brake and turn indicator?

They were positively announced on various tech blogs:

http://www.redferret.net/?p=15651...but there doesn't seem to be any user-reviews available. And, as this is a no-name product, and also VERY EXPENSIVE (£55 product + £22 shipping to mainland Europe), caution is highly advised. Have concerns about ruggedness, waterproofing, brightness etc. I've had the Bicygnals before and it was uttermost junk. Used it only about 2-3 times before it stopped working.
If not, I shall wait until I can grab a Knog Boomer somewhere on the 'net (currently all shops seem to be out of stock)...

So i ended up buying 2 valve red LED lights. I was hoping to have them as a solid red rather than flicker (i dont like the idea of looking like an ambulance or a nob)... To my dismay, the damn things are flicker ones :-(
I cant find the correct one... Any suggestions?
and why is it seem like they have been pulled from the market? Its nigh on impossible to find them in any brand -

http://www.bikeradar.com/mtb/gear/category/accessories/lights/front/product/usb-rechargeable-led-set-9412I've just ordered another one of these (at the round figure of £7.82) - very light very bright (18 candles = 226 lumins )

Well bugger. My Blackburn Quadrant has just packed in after faithfully serving me through 2 winters. I got it as a set with the Mars 3 (still going strong) for about £20-25 so i thought I'd just buy the same set again and have the bonus of another rear light.
Well I'll be buggered, they have gone and discontinued the set and the Quadrant on its own too! So I really need something soon and don't want to spend mega dorrah or get something shit compared to the light I had (which, for around £20 isn't going to happen). Bugger :( -

Also it looks like the decapitated remnants of a decepticon.
You say this like it's a bad thing?

Hey, I had a slow afternoon at work today so I helped a colleague find some lights for mountain biking.
He's bought a HA-III SSC P7-C (google it) light for less than £50 and although I haven't seen or used it yet – the internet is full of rave reviews. It's tiny and kicks out 900!!! lumens.
Thought i'd give people the heads-up.

They're actually surprisingly bright, don't want to piss on knog's bonfire but i think they're brighter than the frog because they use counterfeit chinese LEDs which are powerful but possibly explosive becasue they're manufactured in factories with no standards.

• #372
i got my small knogs like those for 3 quid each, well happy

But its repulsive how some Chinese company just rips off any idea, and gets away with it, always!
