Yeah, it looks like I have 2 meteor mounts rather than 1 of each. Have emailed to see if I need to send the whole lot back, seem to be available on eBay if that doesn't work out.
I've had a few moon lights and worked in a shop that sold them. 2 lights out of 5 don't have the right mounts or even no mounts in the packets!
Just ring them up, think it might be 2pure are the distro's? -

These noobs, doesn't really need a new thread.
Is Rosie time travelling?
What Mr B says in the thread is a good point, though I suppose only testing through use will determine if it makes life safer, or distracts the drivers too much. No more than them looking at a billboard I suppose. And at least they are looking at you.

I got the lezyne micro/macro set for christmas. the lights are nice, but the mounts are a bit of a joke.
I'd like to mount them to some of all the threaded holes on the frame and put the front on the underside of the front rack so I have been thinking about microphone clips.
any other ideas or suggestions? -

Just got one of these: http://www.edinburghbicycle.com/products/electron-terra-mini-front-light-ehp440?bct=browse%2faccessories%2flights-batteries%2flights-front Looks like a useful upgrade from my current commuter set up and how bad can it be for £20?

I just got a Lezyne Zecto set and initial impressions are good. They feel really sturdy and are very bright, not yet had a chance to test the battery life but I already like them.

Can anyone recommend a cheap front light that runs off AA or AAA batteries? Just as an emergency light to get home if all my rechargeable ones run out of of juice.

Hope one

They just stop. There's no run down, no warning light, no emergency mode. All my other lights have some version of this feature. It's annoying and has forced me into many a shop to buy new batteries. It's also quite bulky and I prefer mount options that leave the mount on the bars and you just take the light with you. There must be better options.

The hope's a bit out of my price range unfortunately! I just need something cheap and cheerful as a last resort (I've got rechargeable lights coming out of my ears)

The smart looks ok, how would it compare to a dodgy ebay light?

I use a Cateye Volt 300 on pitch black country lanes. On main beam its 300 lumens is ample. I'm sure I'd want more off road. For road use thousands of lumens are not required and is a danger to yourself and others through dazzling other road users.
I have used a 700 lumen l
Lezyne light but the beam pattern was not as good as the Cateye. -

The Smart Lunar 35's a decent light for the money, pretty bright for a "be seen" light

I've raced MTB at night with a 5W halogen bar light and a 10W halogen helmet light.
More is better (allows for going faster) but you can get away with pretty little. Defo prefer helmet and bar combo for mtb, versus just bar for road. Lets you see where you're 'going ' to put your front wheel in corners and stuff.

Exposure lights or Troutie.
Generally road lights are different to MTB ones (beam and brightness).
I have used the exposure maxx d as a bar light and either a diablo or joystick as helmet light for off-roading. Whereas I use the diablo on my handlebars and a joystick as a head lamp on the road.
Have just been given a Troutie spider eye light for off-roading and given its design probably won't need another light to augment it. Chris has made mine with a low (by his standards) setting for use on roads but I'd only use it briefly for this purpose (connecting between trails) as it is still stupidly bright.

Some dude riding around RP the other afternoon - double bar lights and helmet light. Turn 'em down you daft prick.

The 'new' hope one actually des have a warning light before it runs out.
