  • do you r8 it ?

  • Anyone have any experience of this?
    http://www.myfenix.co.uk/fenix-bt20-bike-light

I had a Fenix mag light which was really good until I was a moron and left it on my bike. Need a decent replacement. Lenzyns seem good but the beam spread didn't overly impress. Also not a fan of having only USB charging without the ability to change the batteries.

I'm not sure I see the point in it TBH - maybe for off-road use but otherwise it just seems a bit too bright, bulky and heavy

  • I should add that this review was conducted in true Internet fashion - from a sofa having never actually seen or used one of the units in question.

  • I don't think they're trying to market it as anything other than a mtb light.

  • I missed amazing deal on last year's diablo (for £120) :(

So its between Race and Toro

    Thoughts?

  • Both have same run time, just get the Race.

  • Or buy 13 cree ebay specials.

  • Nope, no cheap ebay crap even though the LEDs are same etc.

Dont mind paying for quality. Its made locally, made well, has no external battery, is cleverly designed and the warranty/after sales support is good all good reasons to pay what it deserves.

At that price, I'd go for the Lumicycle: http://www.lumicycle.com/road-lights/race-range/race-2-enduro-pack.html

Almost the lumens of the Toro, for the price of the Race, with an upgradeable/replaceable battery pack, and 4 Cree LEDs given a fairly tight beam evenly lit.

I hadn't realised the Exposures had got so high in price. I'm unconvinced for that price point that they remain the best lamps.

Lumicycle rule once you're spending this much. And if you're swapping bikes often and needing to move the lamp about, I find the Lumicycle bracket great for that... a decent and strong quick release clamp.

  • I dont want anything with external pack and mind you I am paying £160 for toro.

  • Ah... you don't like the external battery :)

I like external as it means I can replace them during something like a Dunwich Dynamo.

In which case I'd go for the Race. The Toro's beam is too wide for daily road use without dazzling other road users.

  • Buy a few of them then. Get 4; 2 there, 2 back.

  • ^^ fair point and something to think about .. the runtime is pretty decent though.

Apart from the internal/external battery issue, do you really believe the rest is worth that much? I understand paying a slight premium but this is an order of magnitude more..!

  • I ride a chinese carbon bike but I've learned not to buy the cheap ebay lights the hard way :)

  • Fair enough, shit if it breaks mid-ride I guess.

  • whats another battery pack on your di2 commuter anyway? just do it lad

  • Tired out my new Lezyne Macro front light on the hour of power yesterday - great light, good spot but also excellent spread. It cast weird shadows of my brake levers onto the hedges and road. The only problem is that when right next to my Cateye Velo Wireless it stopped the head unit picking up the signal from the speed sensor... moving it away along the bars a bit fixed the issue but it is pretty weird.

  • does there exist ..

    1. a front light that attaches to the underside of a stem or headtube, takes normal (AA/AAA) batteries, and is has a wide, bright flash mode? USB rechargeable is a bonus. i know there's a thread on this but I don't think it was resolved (velcro/cable ties not really appropriate as i'll need to remove it when locking up and removing batteries.)

    2. a rear light clamp that allows me to affix a standard cateye to my saddle rails?

  • to answer your 1st, Hope Vision 1?

  • Not for cateye, but exposure does one for their rear light

  • Hope Vision 1 is bar mount, no? Or is there a stem mount option too?
