The Tireflys site has details of all of theirs but doesn't say if they're presta or not either. The spoke spider, about half way down, definitely would be, but it would look a bit shit.

alien showed me this on thursday, a great little light cheap and very bright, long burn times and can take normal batteries for back-up.
he knows the guy selling them and is going to work out a group buy if anyone is interested.

Fenix is great. you can change the barrel for a smaller and slightly less output or longer barrel with higher output. both ways are great

Tommy, I read somewhere that a guy owned a light with malfunctioning seals. He recommended greasing the seals, and that apparently solved the problem. It seems that the seals were dry and a bit brittle over time, and grease allowed it to sit in tighter, and of course repelled water.
If I get a Smart, I may try that immediately when I buy it.

Thanks for the idea I'll hunt some out.

On One used to stock Dinotte lights and I bought one on intro offer when they first started. Small, lightweight, runs on AA's not some specific-and-set-to-become-obsolete Li ion pack and tough as you like. Made from a machined barrel of aluminium, mine are 5+ years old, have done my winter commuting all through that time; they still look and work fine. Eventually the bar strap perishes but it is just a large rubber O ring, which again is entirely replaceable. Could have got one from On One or Dinotte but found one at Homebase for pennies.
On One don't do 'em any more but they show up on ebay from time to time and are a bargain. The front is BRIGHT and the rear gives a huge glow. I have been followed by friends (returning home from parties etc) in their cars who reported honestly thinking they were coming up behind a motorcyle with a fog light on until they realised it was me.
Can't recommend them enough but make sure to go for the AA battery packs (they do offer a lithium battery pack version). -

i will be too
also, they had a better output then hippy's rather more expense light.
-
• #259
That's not actually true. "Better" output depends on what you want. Since my beam was far wider it's a bit wrong to just go oh the Fenix are brighter.
Mine are claimed 200 lumen, Fenix only 180. But mine uses 4xAA whereas Fenix 2xAA.
I like the options with Fenix but I'm not trading in the Dinotte any time soon. Still for about half price Fenix look good. -

i knew you would bite :)
-
• #261
How is that 'biting'?
Mine also have a longer burn time. :P
-
• #262
ah, but you have 4 batteries, with a spare set the fenix would run longer?
-
• #263
And with a spare set mine would last longer..
-
• #264
yes, but then you need 8
not 4 like the fenix :) -
• #265
Your maths is awesome. Like my light.
-
• #266
thanks
-
• #268
800 lumen :)
holy crap thats stronger than car lights.
there is even a 1.2k light!! -
• #269
Unless the Fenices (?) were at least half price, I'll stick with my Romisen equivalents. ~£12 incl p&p, high (3hr @ approx 180lumen), low (10hr? @ approx 100lumen), strobe (superfluous), 2xAA, decent enough build quality.

hi bummpf, i have been waiting for you to get on this, i was trying to think what ones you had were, where is the best place to get them?

I had a play around with a load of Lupine lights earlier this week and they are absolutely unbelievable. Even the smallest tesla (one LED) model was epic. This is the top of the range 'Betty 7', which would set one back a greenie short of six hundred quid:
Let there be light.

Superprecise, is the "playing about" something like Uncle Ernie's "fiddling about"?
Tommy should know this one. BMMF is a shoe in to get it.

Never used it on light seals though.. good idea. I use it for sealing Powertap hub covers.
