^^ well there are two (I think) people on this thread who's lost their £60GBP hope lights that way. So imo if it was of comparable quality/output then yes I think it might be worth it.
One thing that appeals over the theft-proof-ness is the idea of a really robust integrated mount. The pita battery changes don't.

Lezyne Powerdrive is looks better on paper than the Hope, previous experience with the hope light is that it chews through batteries at a rate of knots.
-
• #2129
Does it? You do need to choose your battery carefully, I get a good 30 hours on the lowest setting.

I like the look of the powerdrive myself too. Was recommended it when looking at hopes.

Hope Vision 1 combined with the four battery Cateye EL-320G got us safely along some very dark country lanes in Cumbria last Saturday night. Very glad we packed them, didn't intend to do any riding after dark, but I guess you can never be sure what the road will throw at you.

Fawkes Cycles are doing those Lezyne discounted just now
LEZEXTRA10 is the code for another 10% off

Think ill order one tonight. At that price its a bargain.
What's the power drive like?

• #2134
How long is the lezyne code valid for?
-
• #2135
For the rest of this month.

Sweet I can wait till payday!

Chain reaction is a lot cheaper. £55 for the power and £72 for the super

According to a magazine test;
l 300 Lumens on high beam providing around two hours of use, around three hours on a medium 200 Lumen beam and over five hours on the 100 Lumen low beam
so it's over five hours on the lowest setting.
why is it that I recommended the lezyne but got scowled at and was called that it's stupid and dangerous, but everyone else is fine?
-
• #2139
So fine for commuting, but shit for riding.
-
• #2140
Why Shit for riding? 100 lumen is more than enough.
The CRC super drive for 70 sounds perfect even more so as you can buy spare rechargeable batteries for them. Perfect for touring and audax.

More is better.

If that's your intention, probably not worth it (as andy.w kindly highlight the difference).

I've got the powerdrive (if anyone was on the bridges ride Saturday I was using it zip tied to my basket), it's plenty bright and long lasting enough for commuting, sturdily put together as far as I can tell, and you can recharge it by USB which is a big plus as far as I'm concerned. I think it's pretty good.

Hmmm should I just wait till hope is on sale then? Suppose for the price of a spare for the lezayne I could get a lot of Aa rechargeable.

How powerful is the hope on lowest then? Better than the lezayne on lowest?
This light will be used more for my 20 mile commute than audax but I want / need a light for that too.

Can't days exactly but it been two weeks since I've put a fresh battery in, and I estimate I ride 5 hours a week in the dark.
-
• #2147
I've just been amusing myself reading the Road Vehicle Lighting Regulations.
Does that make clipless pedals illegal after dark? I'm not convinced you can pick up some snazzy Keos with huge amber things hanging off them
Shimano 105 5700's come with reflectors that fit underneath :D
-
• #2148
so do Crank Brothers pedals. I might even bring them for tomorrow, although that would also mean that I ought to find a rear reflector...

Sounds good. Do you use rechargeable then?

Really? Depends where you ride, but wouldn't feel confident riding some of the lanes round here (Devon) at night without 500+L
40-60 lumens :/ With all the heatsinky metal you'd think they could have been a little more ambitious.
