Ah, thanks for that, I was going to ask about diffusers.
I'm hoping to buy one of those an bodge it to work with one of these. The head of the light has a 37mm diameter so...
Does anyone know which of the 3 available below would be the closest fit?

I take what you say onboard, but I think its safe to say that most of my cycling is done in the dark, and it does make A LOT of difference when my lights are on their maximum power. I'm not imagining it. It does make me safer, and causes drivers to give me metres of room, instead of inches.
Have you seen how bright your light is from a different persceptive?

I don't own the 1/2 watt lights, they're just the regular jobbies. But I have two next to each other on the tab on my bag.

Off-current-topic, but are there any strap-on lights that don't need a mount (like knogs) that are actually any good? i've looked at a few in bike shops but its pretty hard to tell how they good they are in a brightly lit shop.

Just added the Portland Design Works Dangerzone Taillight, and noticed this in their advert:
•Two 0.5 watt red LEDs made by Nichia brand
•zZz, a-HA! and *Rock Steady* modes
•seatpost and seatstay mounts included
•backpack clip
•50 hours run time
•2 x AAA batteries (included)I call trademark infringement! We already have a rocksteady, and if they want to use his name, they should pay. No?
And, by the by, what IS a Rocksteady Mode? -

they seem to have changed the listing slightly for those HK cree lights....this one is working for me:
Just bought two so hopefully they work well....will update when I get them....
So these arrived and I have to say I am pretty impressed so far, blinded myself testing them (even with some crap batteries they are seriously bright and very lightweight as well....the fittings seem solid enough to put up with some use. The rear lights are nothing to write home about but have a million epi-inducing settings. I am a little worried about using the strobe setting as it is pretty brutal, will see what happens and will update soon when I have tested the battery life on strobe with some proper rechargables.
