I recently had wheels built at CONdor.
IIRC building was £25/wheel, black DB spokes 50p/ea.
I think murtle got complete wheels from BETD, check with him.
CONdor offer their own version of the Goldtec, slightly different shape.
I went for DT Swiss RR1.2 on Goldtec in the end. 100g heavier than CXP33 but alledgedly stronger. I looked at those Condor-Goldtecs and there's nothing to choose other than the shape - they are the same price. BETD were a few quid cheaper but you have to add P&P. I went with Condor as I can get them quicker, and take 'em back if there's a problem.

I know I'm not that well up on all the diffent manufacturers, but they definitely had OpenPro stickers on them!

I'm going to keep the front wheel as a spare, but you can have the back one to break for spares if you want it. I'll PM you when the new wheels come through.

Ooooo! do Goldtec's come with a transvestite cheerleader? If you'd told me that, I'd have upgraded years ago!

murtle, that is the worst pic of a cheerleader I had never seen, did you do it on purpose?
-
• #37
...so it's new wheels time.
Why a new set of wheels !? You just need a new rim.

I'm liking how the thread about my wheels has turned into a bad cheerleader discussion. It reminds me why I don't bother with other forums.

I've had a Goldtec running for years on and off-road on my fixed mtb.
Don't think I'd buy another one - it still runs smooth and everything, but those washers and allen bolts are shit.
What's a good replacement washer? Is there a nice stainless steel serrated one that will work (with the over-sized axle and allen bolt head)? Post me links and images, please - I'm feeling lazy.

just get the new bolts with the cap-washer thingy..
I drilled out some wicked coned washers with a knurled stainless steel insert that came from an old DMR hub.
but you won't be able to get those
-
• #47
They have captive washers now? Are they still made of cheese?
-
• #48
they seem ok, my front hub has them.
unless they've changed them again

• #49
Hmmm, don't believe you.
