Fave shit bikes of the early nineties

man i had an apollo vesuvius "mountain" bike. with a weird three-triangle frame. can't find a picture of in anywhere.

Green and purle frame (front half one colour, rear the other)? If so I remember it well.

wow. I had a raleigh activator 2. Got it stolen from our gargage and replaced with a raleigh max. Happy days! Also had the generic peugeot road bike, the bad one. Can anyone remember what it was called?

It handled like a tank, got speed wobble on any descent more than 5% and weighed more than a Cortina.

My fave old wheels:

Hurried Hawk BMX. Weighed around 4,000 kilos.
Knackered old purple/rusty Raleigh Chopper, with Tony the Tiger decals.

I just found a Raleigh Marauder (minus wheels and bars) by the side of the road. Its pretty good knick considering its age. I'd build it up but it might be too small for me. I've got a few other MTB parts and I'm gonna try and knock together a 'custom' cheap 90s MTB out of all the parts. I won't be spending any money or much time on it though as it'll have to live outside so won't last too long.

Dawes Wildcat hardtail mountain bike - got it 1987- used it well into the Nineties. Even took it on a Brighton run. I don't have a picture. It was big, heavy (very) and yellow and, I think, one of the first UK-made mountain bikes. I miss it in a way... I gave it away to someone who never used it, which pissed me off.

Raleigh Aztec, with about 451 spokey dokes (I ate a lot of Frosties). Loved that bike, rode it 10 miles to work and back every day when I was 16. Until some theiving pikey knob-jockey stole it. Absolutely gutted.

I had a Raleigh Extreme with the plastic disc wheel covers. It was in lumey green. I think it weighed about 2.3 tonne, with breaks capable of almost stopping it. I still fear side winds to this day.

Snap.... been trying to find pics of the Raleigh Extreme I had, I'm sure it was black though, and had a colour spectrum disc on the back wheel... canny find it though... so maybe it was the green one

Anyone know anything about Raleigh Aardvarks? It had bullhorn bars with plastic one-piece brake levers that curved up the bullhorns

I won one in a competition in the early 90s, I was only about 7 but they sent me an adult bike by accident. I gave it to a friend about five years ago and he's giving it back next week.
