  • Has anyone used these?
They look pretty decent, thinking about getting them - but then again there's always phils...

I know this is quite a late response, but I swear by Level hubs... I love mine more than I love my Phil hub. Soooo buttery smooth a year later, super easy to change the sprocket... no chain whip required, and the also hold the title for the highest flanges on a track hub. Mine are in black and look amazing, I whole heartedly recommend Level track hubs.

  • GA2G: Maybe OEM stuff or unbranded so they can be used in situations where Shimano parts might conflict with team 'other' sponsors.

  • i used to have a goldtec but it weighed a bloody ton, going to go cheap get a formula and a nice cough freewheel and cog

Ok mate, I'll take your wisdom. But I thought it odd that a comapany of that size would allow that. Still, I am now better informed.

  • Just a suggestion.

  • Hmmm, the Suzue pro max that show up on outspoken are the SB which i've read are a cheaper version than the standard (inc njs). Does anyone know if there is much difference in quality? ie, do I buy them for £80 or get something else...

  • SB = Sealed Bearings

  • Anyone got any experience of these Fixie Inc hubs? They look quite nice, £45 a pop.

  • Maybe I missed it, but what about the venerable Chub?

The first line in this thread:

*HUBS: Single Speed, Track/Fixed - for newbies or anybody wanting to upgrade single speed hubs* in the UK.

I emailed Mosquito for more info; stock, availability. Received no reply, so they receive no money.

+1.I have one of the original prototype fixed/free LeVeL rear hubs and a front hub and I love them. Been going strong for 4 years now and haven't had to touch 'em. The only downside is that they aren't light. Not only is it easy to change the sprocket, but they are really easily swapped between 120 and 135 mm flange spacing by swapping the steel spacers. It's a 5min job at most.Oh, and Will at HubJub sells them, which means you get to give your money to a bloody lovely guy. Really, I can't recall ever dealing with a nicer guy to give my money to.There was a rumour that they were developing a freewheel mechanism that fits the InI three-bolt interface, but that's been going on for years with no sign of it yet.Having said all of that, I am planning on buying up a stock of sprockets just in case the company goes out of business.

If they haven't bothered reply, then the Soma Track, Dia Compe Gran Comp, or Suzue Pro Max, might be good alternatives, at a similar cost.

  • Better give Mosquito a call , Whizz. It's only two lovely & enthusiastic guys there, overworked and undersexed, but trying their best. And their stuff is really alright for the money. And I like them a lot for their habit of riding themselves and doing a lot for the german fixie scene.

  • Are Goldtec hubs reverse threaded on both sides to run two sprockets+lockrings?

  • If assembling the ultimate fixed/single-speed wheel, the choices have just grown a bit.

White Industries TRACK HUBS now added.

  • It appears that the Shimano Dura Ace 7600's are on the way out, are already replaced by the small-flange 7700's.

A guy in my LBS says:
These are officially out of production. The only new hub sets left in the world are now shop stock, stores holding high-flange are now adding premiums to them and selling as 'deadstock'. A new Track groupset will be released in 2010 similar to the new DA 7900. Anyone heard anything about this?

I've also noticed that TokyoFixedGear are now selling them for £185 and a short while ago they were selling them for £135.

  • could be true.

I will be looking into this soon. a Dura Fuckin Ace drought indeed!

  • I'd love some swanky new DA 7900 track kit.

  • GA2G, have a look at this
