    think i.ll have one of.those

  • That pump is the biggest piece of crap I've ever seen - even a basic Tesco/ASDA pump will last longer (although I bent one).

My dad and my uncle both had those pumps. And both basically exploded after the first use.

All that Lidl shit should come up in a Christmas cracker from a pound shop.

Happened to me aswell 85psi and bang!

  • The workstands are back in. I picked up one from the Clapham Junction store last night and they still had a fair few in. Seems fantastic for 30 quid.

  • I got my GF some gloves from the exact same store. They also have tools, clothing etc. in.

The gloves were only 4 quid but they do seem fairly shonky. She says they're comfy though.

  • I have found that most budget cycling gear is rubbish. Though I have bought a rear light from a pound shop and it has lasted quite well, but for a quid it is easily replaced if it goes wrong.

  • Looks like I'm going to Lidl this evening (I know, what an exciting life). I'm still super pleased with all the stuff I bought at Aldi a few months ago so we'll see if Lidl can compare. 4 quid gloves sound good, I am in desperate need of incinerating my current gloves.

  • I have been using the stand quite a lot. I find that the clap set up is not solid enough to hold the bike in any position you want but am more than happy to just clamp the seat post, let the centre of gravity of the bike swing down so there is no more twisting then adjust the height of the stand to a comfortable level.

can hardly ask for much for £30. The parts tray with the magnetic strip is great but the telescopic rod for holding the front end straight is a pile of bollox, but if you let the bike hang neutrally as described, it's not needed.

  • Went to Lidl this evening, bit of a disappointment. No gloves and I couldn't figure out how I could get a stand home, so I didn't buy one. Some fuckface drove into me just outside the shop too (I was fine). Aldi was so much better than this :(

I ended up buying some running socks, a packet of jelly babies and some cheap cheese. Jelly babies are pretty much all gone...

  • Bought a pair of 'Sorts Glasses' in Lidl's last night £3.99. Come with case, clear, yellow and black lenses. They are suspiciously like the ones I bought on holiday in the states a couple of years ago for $30. Case s \a bit more crap and the general quality not as good, but they are superb for the money.

Also bought some white chocolate with crispy bits in. Yum!

  • ^^ I got a new set of madison road goggles in a charity shop for £2. Despite still being current stock in many bike shops they are very early 90s in style for me, at that price though will keep them for the day when there is a 90s fluro nodder ride

  • Cycling stuff back in from the 27th....

Might be some handy stuff for my commute!

  • Most budget cycling gear is rubbish. For example I bought an inner tube from Wilkensons once for about 2 pounds and thought it was a bargin but after a few weeks the tube split when I was repairing a puncture on it. Budget cycling puncture repair kits are rubbish too, the patches are harder to get to stick to the tube and tend to peel off easily. The same goes with tyre levers they snap.

  • Thanks for your wisdom.

Its like most things. Watch your points as my Grandma used to say.

Some stuff is cheap and good believe it or not. Its just a gamble as to what is.

I've not used one in years but I used to use Wilkinson tubes and cables. Never any problems with either.

  • I believe that they currently have the cycle work stands in again

  • wilko 89p puncture repair kits have never let me down

  • Most budget cycling gear is rubbish... tyre levers they snap.

All tyre levers snap. Even my fancy expensive VAR one snapped, as did my Park Tools ones. I think my pack has my one surviving Milk lever, one surviving Park levers, and all three cheap Wilkinsons levers.

  • I believe that they currently have the cycle work stands in again

Reeeeealy? Been trying the last 3 times to get one, maybe it'll happen for me this time. Cheers for the tip-off

  • they appear to have digital vernier callipers in at the moment

  • ^ The callipers aren't the smoothest in the World but I've definitely seen a lot worse.

  • Also, got these yesterday for an Autumn/non freezing Winter glove.

They fit very well & feel comfortable on the bars. I find them quite similar to some Specialized mtb gloves I've owned.

I popped into both the Tooting one (opposite Tooting Mainline Station) and the Mitcham one, both had at least half a dozen this evening.

  • Lidl have got some 3M spoke reflectors on offer on Monday as well, they really improve side on visibility at a dark junction. http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/bicycle-spoke-reflectors-3m-scotchlite-36-for-4-99-available-from-27th-lidl-1291378

  • Those spoke reflectors are very useful. Cheaper than Halfords too.

  • Just purchased some spoke reflectors and a couple of softshell jackets. Lots of larges and xxl however if you open the packet up they are all mixed sizes. Not sure which idiot packed them.

not that nice and not that pricey.

  • Aldi have got some more stuff coming in this Thursday, overshoes, arm and leg warmers, and apparently some 'merino' kit as well. Also selling a tool kit.
