  • I hope they find Brian Histand soon.

    That second line!

  • Why can't they buy hats that stay on?

  • Chase Dehart has such a laid back style.

  • Gabes, the hat issue gets covered every now and then;

he should just leave his hat off.

I remember seeing some Red Bull vid where his hat came off every trick. It being Red Bull, they probably had some XXXTreme lackey whose job was to retrieve said promotional item every time. A CapFluffer, if you will.

It's also worth pointing out I rarely ride without a hat and can still count the number of times it's fallen off (whilst doing any form of trick) on one hand.

It doesn't make you a pro. It makes you a pillock. Buy a hat that fits.

Someone should ban Bruno Hoffman from wearing hats as he obviously can't cope with the responsibility.

    etc

  • That was a great watch, Dehart is a ripper.

  • That dub jam thing looked wank

  • I've been to 3 of the London ones now (though one didn't leave Southbank because of the rain and I had a broken foot on another one) and they're such memorable days on the bmx. You get to blast around the city with hundreds of other riders, ending up at spots you wouldn't necessarily have known existed and watch riders add to the spots trick history. All on top of having a decent session yourself.
The Barca one did seem like a bit of a Stevie show and I'm not sure why they thought it would be a good idea to take that many people to a flat rail.

Anyway more Animal footage to start the weekend.

  • A solid 4 and a half minutes of peg tricks and handrails.

  • I've got high expectations for that. I just hope it's easy enough to get hold of on this side of the pond.

  • Even that trailer was boring... BMX has become skateboarding on 2 wheels...

  • Genuine question, what kind of thing would you prefer to see?

  • I think that's the wonderful thing about bmx these days, it's so diverse you can please pretty much everyone.

  • Diverse my arse... its all the same. Rail/Ledge tricks.

BMX should be about speed and lines, not bumbling along rubbing your bike on stuff.

  • In your opinion is this better, worse or more of the same?
Mutiny x The Albion London 2012 - YouTube

  • Thanks for sharing that. Roey is fucking epic. Never get bored of watching him ride...

  • If you judge bmx purely on this thread then I'd agree that it's not very diverse, but that would be because of my incessant posting of peg trick related videos (because that's the type of riding I enjoy watching). But Mutiny/Fly are still backing you on the fast floaty stuff.

  • And "thecomeup". 99% of videos are dire...

  • TCU is 99% 4 peg street edits, which as you don't like that style of riding, would explain why you think they're dire.

I was having a conversation with an older (40+) rider I know recently and he was begrudging "slow" technical street riding. He's admittedly a very opinionated individual but his view boiled down to what people do on bike when they're kids, i.e. go fast and jump as high/far as possible. He thinks it's crazy that so many people who currently ride BMX are rarely ever more than a couple of feet off the floor. With the proliferation of 4 peg street riding, propagated by the more fashionable companies and TCU, he's probably got a point.

All that said, BMX is meant to be a freestyle activity so even though many people will be heavily influenced by trends or their favourite riders and that may not be his bag, I can't help but think that his complaining whether something is or isn't BMX is ill thought out on his part.

  • Dye? Lols.

Yeah, hear what you are saying, its just a shame so many folks ride the same lame way, even the recent xgames stuff there were only a couple of folks doing proper lines the rest were one hit wonders.

Actually, I hate most bmx atm, so prob not going to get much positivity from me. Hada lot of fun riding Viccy park yesterday though. Did 0 bunnyhops and 1 trick (if you could even call it that).
