  • aus: fail

  • Wow.. back to the Orympics. Zzzz...

  • im sure it was hoy who got run over by a WVM not long ago whilst road riding around fort william(?) area.

or he couldve been on his pink framed nitto stem high rise bar arrospoked fixie. NoBrakes of course. he did fail to avoid the WVM afterall

  • back to the Orympics...

    Lacist.

  • I was just going to disagree, and then I remembered that I rode over to Hillingdon the other day, and was so knackered by the time I got there that I couldn't really be bothered with the track. So yes, I see your point. Doesn't mean I have to like it though...

i should clarify. i wasn't implying that track riders don't ride on the roads. but i reckon they'd prolly try to limit it to training rides, not as general transport, although i imagine some of them may ride to the track as a kind of pre warm-up.

the reason i say this is because recovery is fucking precious to elite athletes of any sort.

but then i don't know any pro track riders and i'm just guessing based on my experience of elite runners.

  • to continue this pointless ramble of an unanswerable question in a slightly different direction...

Why dont you see more people running places?

You get loads of people who run for excercise in the mornings & evenings, enter ameutuer races and triathalons.

But who actually runs for *transport *?

Im sure for a fit person its just as pheasible, if not faster than cycling in some instances?

  • what a good question!

I used to run to work, depending where I was, and so did some of my mates. but that was back in the late 80's / early 90's when we were all poor..

    a bit like now.

    more people should run.

    run, fatty, run.

  • If they are any good at what they do they probably use one of these.

i'm a runner, but i don't really run anywhere for the following reasons (even when i'm really fit):

    • you get fscking sweaty
    • you can't carry much stuff
    • running most places useful involves dodging walkengers which really starts to shit you in peak hour in central london
    • only practical for short commutes
    • bike is quicker, easier and more fun.
  • I sometimes run for commuting (10k max distance), if I can have a shower there, and keep stuff there.
biking in is more fun for sure, but I like the fact that running really allows me to slip into my own world.
Cycling can do that, but not in London

  • skids aren't as fun. you also can't do wheelies.

    On another note:

^Is that chris hoy? He looks like he has special needs in that photo.

  • never mind that, it's chris crash on the top right, on his laptop posting on the forum

  • Yes, he's just missed the world kilo record at altitude (he did get 500m record)..

So he actually DOES have very special needs.. namely an oxygen tank and a fucking lie down.

  • Hoy bounces his 'ball crusher' Halfords £79.99 full suspension mountain bike to Oddbins on his 'off' nights, I say this not out of speculation but having seen him do exactly this.

  • it's good to see such a healthy specimen of a human consoling him. "heart attack for one please"

  • The tram lines render road training in the Manchester area somewhat hazardous.

    Bollocks. They are separate.

  • skids aren't as fun. you also can't do wheelies.

Oh asm. You just made me cry with laughter.

  • Chubby overtherelooks like his dad. Everybody knows that pro cyclists don't ever walk anywhere. Ever. Cept landis. He ruled.

  • Everybody knows that pro cyclists don't ever walk anywhere. Ever. Cept landis. He cheated, got caught, lied, lost all his money and still has a face like a barn.

    Fixed.

  • Repped

    run, fatty, run.

    why stop at running?
after a heavy night i used to sometimes crawl to work on my hands and knees.

  • but you work from home

  • i said 'used to'

    you cunt

  • but you used to work from home

  • To the op i've no idea, but does anyone know what time wiggins is racing tomorrow to try and snatch a third gold? Ta.

Actually, thinking about it i reckon when off the track they all use segways, probably in formation.
