some ride geared race bikes round the inner bit of the velodrome when warming up/down, i guess these are also used as their training bikes?
being used to riding the perfect tool for the job on the track i would be surprised if they would want to compromise their training by using the wrong kind of bike to train on the road.(i.e. a track bike) -

if i was a pro track cyclist i reckon i wouldn't bother riding to the shops. i'd prolly drive a car and save my legs for actual training.

I was just going to disagree, and then I remembered that I rode over to Hillingdon the other day, and was so knackered by the time I got there that I couldn't really be bothered with the track. So yes, I see your point. Doesn't mean I have to like it though...

well our lot all live close to manchester velodrome, which is where the majority of training takes place, they will also travel to various training camps in the team bus.
I imagine they drive or walk to the shops.
-

I doubt very much that they walk to the shops, unless it's close. Too much walking might lead to injury! :)

Probably use the tram to visit the shops, and with the correct travelcard could get to the Velodrome on the bus. Assuming of course, that their bikes are stored at the Velodrome. Otherwise they could only train at off-peak times. The tram lines render road training in the Manchester area somewhat hazardous.

It depends on the event doesn't it?
Sprinters aren't going to be doing much riding outside the track.
Pursuiters are going to be doing shitloads outside the track (like say the Tour de France!). -

I think they ride geared road bikes.
Buts that just going by the women(not sure who, i think she was near pro or pro) was on the TV a while back that had got taken off her bike, then dragged along behind the car on her way to the track to train. Cant remember if she is still on the track. Anyone else remember seeing this? It was on some TV show. -

Is that the stuff you couldn't do because you might break a nail?
Anyone know/seen/got pics of what pro track cyclists use to get about town?
Do Hoy & Pendleton sit astride their Carbon-fibre race machines, modern geared bikes or old school track iron when off to the shops?
Do pro riders do outdoor training on fixed bikes? Any of them build up anything interesting for it, or just use a dolan training bike out of the box?
