the point is that the the fat masses in this country are putting a fucking huge strain on the NHS, health insurance etc
basically i pay through the nose for you being fat!! :(
dogs, don't believe everything you read in the papers. I take less than 5 days sick in 5 years from work, or just check with my GP. I'm fat, but hardly ever sick. You don't pay for me. You pay for old people, smokers, and you pay for some fat people. But in general, it is I, that am paying for you. HTFU.

In France, we were told that a couple of slices of bread with butter and jam for breakfast was healthier than a bowl of cornflakes.
It suits me!mon dieu, sacre bleu ce n'est pas vrai mais **sliced *bread @!?

This is absurd. True, there are some Africans that practise cannibalism, which is normally related to magic practices; but really, no one in Africa would eat dead fat children.
Better to have them while still alive, or to stave off starvation there, we should encourage them to eat more foie gras.
Sell it as BUSH MEAT

Dogs, a little empathy will take you a long way.
And this is a report on your country, the fattest nation on earth.

Human beings have evolved to actively seek high fat foods as part of their diets. Usually from animal meat to bulk them up through times of no food. Of course, this no longer applies nowadays as most of us aren't out hunting of a night. Instead sitting around doing sod all seems to be the norm and eating refined fats which are a major problem

I'll says this;
a lots of us nowadays can't cook for shit, so it's easier to go to McDonald.
any logic in this?

I should rephrase it, I never managed to get my question across properly!;
A board assumption, but I think quite a lots of us nowadays can't cook, and it's easier to simply grab a stomach-filling burger, pizza and the likes.
is there any truth in this statement?

I would actually say that being overweight is more and more accepted as people are growing bigger. People in their 20s are much bigger than they were say 15 years ago and now someone who is called fat is borderline obese. And at the same time people who are skinny are called anorexic.
Women dress size 10 is bigger than it was a few years ago and is really different depending on the shops you go to.In our society we have completely disregarded farming. It is shocking to learn that our fruit and vegetables contain around 50% less vitamins than they did in the 1950s.
It is really sad to think that children used to suffer of starvation in the UK until recently and now that we are a richer society they are ill because they are fed too much crap.
A friend of mine who is a pediatric nurse told me that a lot of young children as young as two are treated for constipation...

England has never had a tradition of fine food. Especially among the poor working classes.
In fact for the majority of recorded british history, vegetables were considered unpalatable animal fodder.
For the majority of the 20th century, the working classes as a whole didnt have particulary great food.
Lucky kids would have things like a slice of bread & jam for supper, while poorer ones would settle for a sprinkle of sugar.
I think the key is the amount of activity everyone was doing which began to drop off in the 90's I think.
And then mega supermarkets & mcdonalds closed in on everywhere.

I
GA2G, I don't think this thread is a complete assault on anyone who isn't of the ideal figure (I'm a big fellow myself).I dont think GA2G will like that phrase.
I think he has been spedning a long time trying to emphasise that there is no 'ideal' figure.
I strongly agree with a lot of your points though, ive already commented about the fried chicken. It is probably the strongest growing industry in the UK. 100% fool proof business. When have you ever seen an empty fried chicken shop?
They must get through skipfuls of chicken parts, frying fat and salt.
It also hurts me to see obese people too for the same reasons, I can totally imagine there failing organs and their bleak future.
But with not so fat people, you can also sometimes see how unhealthy they are.
And sometimes pretty big people look healthy and strong.

I meant society's generalisation of an ideal figure.

yeah. theres no excuse for eating shit food. How much effort does it take to open a bag of salad, chop up a few tomotos, pepper, onions. Grill a bit of chicken / fish, chuck on some sauce or marinade and serve with some bread. Takes about 10 mins

Loads more effort than throwing a tenner at the kebab shop guy.
Fuck the salad. :P

personal responsibility is where its at.. unless you are a child then the parent/carer has to take that responsibility. the information is out there, whats the problem with finding it and deciding for yourself that you want to eat and live well? how can you blame chiken shops, mac D's, pizza hut or even the supermarkets?? sure they sell food that isnt great but people dont have to buy it. it outrageous that people still make the decision to have an unhealthy diet. true health = fitness. you can be fat and fit, skinny and fit, unhealthy and fit etc etc. but ultimately, if your goal is good, true health, then fitness and athletic ability comes with it, reguardless of the size of your bones...
if you are fat and happy with it, fuck, dont moan. same goes for skinny or "normal" or whatever. if you are fine with it, dont moan. if you arent fine, then start on a journey to change your life. i know it can be fucking hard, but its a choice to be made not debated endlessly.
obese isnt a dress or trouser size, its an affliction. mostly the result of malnutrition, therefore it is unquestionably unhealthy. it doesnt mean that these folks cant run or be active but it means that their body and systems are put under pressure and in WILL suffer health problems.
"As for fat kids they are victims of ignorant or evil or unloving parents" - Roxy
why are people getting agro with this? it says ignorant OR... it could say lazy in there to be more comprehensive but im with roxy on this one.
dogs was half right, its not merely fat people putting a strain on our health care/ insurance. its unhealthy people in general. and health is something people can do something about, soo when they dont, yea its offensive. what a gift life is, and to throw it away to suffering because of lack of care is offensive.
i am always amazed when people say "i am fat and im proud." what are you proud of? proud of being fat? or do they actually mean comfortable with their size? am i just debating semantics here? i kind of wonder what is there about being fat to be proud of? to my mind it falls into the same bracket as proud of being a smoker, or an alcoholic etc etc. its the road to ruin and long term health problems. proud of degenerating health, compromised vitality and longevity? live and let live and all that but proud? i dont get it. not a dig at anyone in particular, just something i have always wondered. like i said, live and let live. people can choose their paths, and not everyone is gonna agree.
i typed and retyped and deleted so much of my rant to try to make it not offensive to anyone in particular as im not tryingto dig at folks, so if any offence taken, sorry. we all have our own opinions, and mine is that poor health through personal choice,in whatever form it comes, is a fucking waste and a outright shame. but do what you want and chase happiness of your own making, not anyone elses. if people thought a little more about themselves in an abstract way instead of a comparative way, perhaps the world would be a little happier without the competition and spite etc of trying to be "normal" in the eyes of society... fuck "society". its made up of a bunch o cunts. ha. (that last bit is an attempt to lighten the mood).
have a wicked bank holi folks. im off to brighton, whoop whoop.

how can you blame chiken shops, mac D's, pizza hut or even the supermarkets?? sure they sell food that isnt great but people dont have to buy it.
But they're ubiquitous. Kids learn to recognise brand logos before they recognise their own name written down. It's all going in, all the time, and needs to be consciously rejected.
On the whole, people, especially young ones, feel compelled to fit with their environment. This is what Darwin meant by survival of the 'fittest'. We're a highly adaptive species.
Pressure, pressure, pressure. Have you read 'The Subliminal Man', a short story by J. G. Ballard? It summed up the whole phenomenon way back in the (early?) 60s. Good read.

"how can you blame chiken shops, mac D's, pizza hut or even the supermarkets??"
Because they take the piss!!!!! Opening up right next to some of the most deprived estates and areas and selling saturated fat, MSG, e-number riddled shite for an 'affordable price'. Christ, they even have special offers for school kids!
PS. I just pissed myself when I read the tags.
