Do these fixed wheel converter seem expensive?

  • someone on here fixed their rear hub by using a dremel to grind a channel into the hub thread and fashioned a notched washer to stop the lock ring unscrewing. might have been on the current projects thread about 6 months ago.. might work?

  • i can't personally recommend doing anything other than using a proper track hub with a lockring, or a bolt on cog, or a surly fixxer.

  • velo libre; it's just that is it quite hard changing the hub in a disc wheel, and it's also quite hard using a bolt on cog, and a surly fixxer only works on a shimano cassette hub.. :(

    smithchild; but that would require a redish... can't be done on this wheel..

  • Is it a screw on freewheel block already on there I presume? If so, in your case it seems like one of these things maybe your only option. Not cheap, but then again I bet that wheel wasn't either.
