bike helmets are pretty pointless, i could be wrong, they may keep your head dry.
For any proper protection against moving cars you'd be better off with a motorbike helmet.
Some of you may disagree, but a bike a helmet just seems to be a clumsy scrap of synthetic stuff perched on my head, when i did try one , a long time ago.
You'd still face plant, chin plant the same with /without a helmet and break your face to bits.
This justifies itself enough for me to not wear one.

Gonna have to call you out on this one...I believe you are an academic doctor, not a medical one? If so, (and either ways) what the fuck weight does that add to your personal opinion?

aha, well i get the chance to respond: i'm a medical doctor, currently studying for a masters (and possibly a phd). but i still work in hospital regularly. and the reason i brought that up was because ved had earlier referenced this article which kind of implied that all doctors think you shouldn't wear helmets. and that isn't true.

i have broken 2 helmets by crashing the second time would have been a bit nasty if i hadn't been wearing it, wear one all time now.
