For £800 why not look at a Bianci Pista or something a little better than a Fuji track. Spend more now on the frame. Upgrade components later and when you can afford to.

Thanks - what is the best site in the uk to pick up a Pista and the aforementioned
(fashion) ahem I mean functional accessories? Also anybody got any news on the 2010 Pista, worth the wait?
Thanks

Bianchi Pista is pretty solid, I got a 2008 model for £400. 2010 ones look pretty nice but if they have the same RRP as the 2009 (£660!!!!!) that's way too expensive. Make sure you check the cog & lockring for tightness tho, I stripped the threads on mine in under a week....

Hello All,
I noticed this forum seems to be irreverent to internet protocol on forums and shuns current practice. In the light of that, here's my newbie message.
I live in London and ride a motorbike generally but shorter journeys outside the working week are by cycle and as the kids are growing up I like to get them out from under the Playstation.
I remember fixed wheel riding from my yoot so yearning the same thrills (and going through my third mid-life crisis) I'm after another one. Hence my presence here, to cull all the information I can from all you experts and use that to make a rash purchase which neither suit the purpose or be a 'bargain'.
Looks like you have a good forum here, hope to see you around.
Gary

ok I joined up here last month and have a few posts, but still can't seem to send PMs or start new threads. Anyone help me out here please?
thanks!

perhaps this clip ought to be added to the guide for beginners
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VXD8yOxIPB0&feature=related
sometimes people wade in here calling each other all kinds of humorous insults, but the humour exists because the people concernced know each other
however the same name calling from a stranger may elicit a very different reaction.

VB, can you make it so that noobs can receive PMs even if they can't send them?
It would make telling them they are being dicks much easier and cause less clutter in the forum landscape..

Are you my A level art teacher?

Art? The only reason I can tell the difference between a pen and a pencil is a pen can be used for spitballs whereas a pencil is best wired to a 30V+ powerpack until it burns..
Art? shudders

Hello LFGSS,
I am new. This is my introduction.
How do I get out of the Nursery?
-
• #2250
All the info you require is in the first post on this thread.
Welcome.
Been skulking around for awhile but now firmly dipping my Toe in the murky waters of fg
I am going to go for a 56cm Fuji Track on Evans. The thing is I am getting it on the Bike to Work Scheme (Ireland) which allows me to spend circa £800, to get max value I want to buy all my add ons at the same time.
Can anyone advise on the best bits & pieces I should get from Evans?
I will be looking at a new saddle, front brake, pedals, straight bars…. 5 spoke aero wheels??
Help very much appreciated
Bob
