has anyone had a frame sprayed this sort of colour with teh sparklez?
Dawes Fireball resprayed RAL5001.
Not a perfect job, but I'm pleased.

Is there anywhere up North that does this sort of thing? Armourtex is in London as I understand and I don't think I can get my frame there and back to be honest.

there must be a powdercoaters in every town

Va1con you in Leeds? If so pop into Bikology on Hyde Park corner, they know somewhere that will do any colour & finish for £50 including blasting.

Does anyone know if a bonded aluminium frame can be powdercoated? I already emailed armourtex but i'm just wondering if anyone here had an idea or experience.
I gather the temps involved in the baking process reach a minimum of about 170C, which I think is about the point where most epoxy will begin to degrade. :
If it won't work, a traditional paint job should bake at a cooler temp, right?

Have you had any frames done via this route Malaysian? That seems like a great deal. I'd be interested in seeing some colours.

I haven't, but Adam the guy that runs the shop knows what he's talking about. Pop in and have a word with him, I've found them really helpful and would recommend them.

I think I will, I've been in there for bits and bobs in the past and have found them very accommodating.

I sent a frame over to Maldon Shotblasting and Powder Coating (Essex) just before Christmas. The frames complete, done in RAL 3003 (Ruby Red).
Guys were very accomodating and helpful - I'll post some pics tomorrow when I get the frame back.

^ looks great. My parents live in Tiptree (my old room is now the bike storage room...) so I might get my touring bike done there. How much was it? Do they have a big range of colours?
Found their website now - they're pretty cheap and seem very professional.

I don't know what they had to hand, but a good selection of RAL colours (try ralcolor.com), and different finish options. Mine was £84 with VAT for stripping, powder coating and a clear laquer. The guy who runs the place, Trevor, is very helpful too!
They also had a box of metallic "candy" coats which looked bloody gorgeous but out of my price range unfortunately!
I'm in Chelmsford- give us a shout when you get it finished, I could do with a ride :D

Candy paints are definitely tempting... I'll have a look next time I'm down that way. I don't spend a lot of time in Essex any more but I'll let you know next time I meet up with my old Essex cycling buddies.

Just dropped my frame off for coat in RAL9006 - white aluminium, which is slightly metallic.
Quoted £45 for blast and coat (hooray for Sunderland), can't wait to get it back in a few days!

It's done. It's a tiny bit metallic, promise!
Toying with the idea of doing some lug-lining to add a bit of 'something', as there are no decals to go on. I'm not sure on a colour though, contact points will be brown.

Very nice lugs. Looks like a lovely frame, and I like the colour too.
-
• #997
Beautiful!

Thanks fellas. Any suggestions for potential lug-lining colour? I was thinking maybe red but I'm not sure...
-
• #999
Decals will work better than lug lining I think

This is true, I'd love to put decals on, but I've no idea what the frame is or who made it. Nothing stopping me making something up I suppose!
aaaand I found out that the frame is definitely a 1960 Bob Jackson. :D :D :D
