Anyone know somewhere that can chemically remove paint from frame (acid dip?).
Would love to know the answer to this ...

Did you go there yet?
@BobbyBriggs how much did you pay for a pair of forks?
-
• #1454
Mario smashed it with my 'Dale respray. Sourced new decals and remembered exactly where I wanted them applied , all for £100. Will use again.

Did you go there yet?
Not yet. I had a look at prices for chroming for other places and figured painting might end up being a bit more cost effective.

Ok, Chrome is special tho.
I had a pair of forks chromed for £50 back in Denmark many years ago. It really makes your bike feel and look special -

Argos quote £160 on their website. I'll give the Old Kent Road chromers a call tomorrow.
-
• #1458
For whole bike or just forks?
-
• #1459
Just forks! They don't even have a price for the whole bike, rear stays and fork is nearly £300. I suspect they might be subbing it out to someone else, so there's two levels of profit built into that price, maybe.

That is crazy.
I does require a lot of work polishing every thing and prepping in general, but still that is insane pricing. -

Sadly not. I have searched for years (and I do mean years) for exact repro decals for my bike. Closest I can find are the decals from gts753, the Australian eBay decal dude. He has a plain set, mine have a gold leaf pattern, I asked him if he would produce, he said no.

Just looking at the new Armourtex website which says:
"We have been in operation from the same 12,000sq ft factory for 20 years..."
Am I missing something here? Have they always had two sites and I only ever went to the Hackney one? If you look for their new Tottenham address first hit is another company who I've never heard of called ESP Powdercoating who claim to have been formed in 2012.
Has anyone been to the 'new' Armourtex yet? Are they as good as the 'old' one?

did you have much luck with the old kent road chromers?
-
• #1467
Ok, so where do one get a descent powder coat then?
-
• #1468
Few LBS are taking their frames to https://www.instagram.com/vazcyclefinishes/ Vaz (London). I am planning to drop him one frame to do. Thinking to add new spray.bike Keirin flakes.
-
• #1469
Didn't know he did powder coating, thought it was just wet spray!
-
• #1470
Anyone know if Vaz can do carbon?
-
• #1471
He says he can 2pack & powder.
If I were painting a bike right now I think I'd use Cole or Colour Tech for 2pack.
Had a shit wet paint done recently and I vowed never again.
-
• #1472
There's a CAAD 9 on his Insta with matching forks so I'd say yes.
-
• #1473
never got round to giving them a call, won a voucher from Cole so I figured I'd just get them sprayed nicely, haven't got round to that yet either though.

• #1474
I have used Vaz before and was real happy. I'll go there again then. Do you know his powder coat prices in relation to spray?
@haveo vaz does carbon real well, but it needs to sit longer after painting before paint is hardened as he can not heat cure carbon.
Anybody has Vaz's number? And also, is he open in weekends? I can't remember

He's often there on Saturday till 3pm
His studio number is online, and if you take a look at his instagram his mobile number should be available - soz would just give it to you but never saved it!
He'll get them from H Lloyd probably. Just like you.
Mario fucked up my Jack Taylor a bit. Like wierd touch ups on the decals and a wierd lump under a decal, might have been dropped flux from a repair his brother did above that. Sloppy.
Like Rob hoops said
you pay peanuts ...
