maybe a poll?
-
• #3
to be honest it all goes over my head and i miss out on the whole thing,
not that this helps -

I don't see it as a real problem - it's generally tedious and largely unfunny - but then again so are many of us...
-
• #5
Outing them is a bit McCarthyesque maybe? Of course, I do want to see who some of them were.
I'm torn.

out them. was funny for a little while but i now see it as a waste of time.
the problem is, it turns to a 'boy who cried wolf' situation. we get newbies coming in for some technical knowhow. but because others fcked around with aliases, people dont bother giving serious/helpful advise anymore or worse flame the newbie.

i'm content to be tedious and unfunny without hiding behind an alias.
i say ban the noms' de plume. -
• #9
I originally created stoopsombitch when i thought as my current self, i wouldnt get serious answers as shinscar... if you check stoops original posts he asked some very sensible questions!
But then i shared the password with 2 other members of the forum who might prosper from having another sensible way of communicating with members within this forum, without knowing who they were.........
unfortunately we took this for granted the character stoop was too much of a personality, the very nature of his name lead us too stupidity.... hence RIP stoopsombitch.Shin

personally, the alias thing is just annoying, in the first instance it can be funny, but now I can't figure out who are the trolls and who are the aliases, I don't understand why you create an alias to act like a troll, when trolls just make the forum a more confusing, contentious, and to a certain extent boring place. Personally I'd either ban them all, or allow one alias per user if they feel the need to create another persona.

Maybe we should have an amnesty, everyone can hand in their alias and walk away without prosecution.
I will go first:
1) Tynan
2) Wheels
3) That shit's fucked up. -
• #12
the only one i really like is "That shit's fucked up", because it was funny and doesn't hurt anyone. It's not me, I don't know or care who it is. But the myriad alias users that have offended or belittled people or groups of people are just out of order.
I wouldn't know the best way technically of managing this. You can't really restrict by IP or cookies etc, cos some people on here share computers or use one at home and one at work etc. Is there any other way you can control this VB?

I love That shit's fucked up. 99% of the rest are annoying. My views mirror Cornies.
EDIT: I have another login from when I could not login after the forum softwear change. Can't remember what it was now, I think it had brick in it though.

I have no alias.
What happens to the users who don't/won't declare?
-
• #20
can it not be limited to a certain number of accounts per ip address, btw i know little about if this would work
or check to see if they have the same email and limit to one per email, and just ban them, it's not funny if there are loads of people just being annoyed by themand i believe shin has more than just one alias

They will be strapped naked to a 2007 city edition Langster and pushed off Waterloo bridge.
-
• #23
Pushed down Brick Lane and then off Tower Bridge would be better.

1) Shinscar
2) Stoopsombitch (murtle & jonny)1) Stoopsombitch (ray, murtle and jonny)
2) Shinscar (yep me ray)
It's been pointed out by a member or two that recently there has been a rash of aliases as people make jokes and create members to push the joke further and so on. Except what was once funny now is fuel to the trolls and to those taking jokes too far.
My question: Is there a problem?
If there is, tell me what it is. I'm happy to think about various ways to solve any perceived problem with aliases. Be it outing them and making aliases visible, to banning aliases, or doing nothing at all.
Anyhow... what's up?
