  • Cinelli did a matching saddle and leather bar set that somertimes turns up on ebay the bars are fitting for brakes but a cinelli saddle and leather bar set would be ace.

  • I'm also in the process of building up a classic italian track bike. Trying to keep everything Italian and vintage but finding decent clincher rims that weren't way too expensive was proving to be quite a challenge so I plumped for a pair of open pros as well in the end. I'd take the stickers off though to make it less obvious ;-)

I'm planning a build based on an Italian track frame this winter. I've bought the frame, although it's in the US just now, and plan to use all Italian parts for it. I've got a chainset, bb, seat pin and headset so need bars, stem and wheels. I think a trip down to Wimborne to visit Campyoldy may be in order.

  • What frame you got Andy...? I am building the Pinni geared to ride Paris Normandy

  • and u need a pair of vittoria tyres too
my colnago will be fully italian apart from the chain + cog

I did have a look on Campyoldy but the only clinchers with 36H are those Mexico 68's £78 for a pair was a bit too steep for me. I've pretty much got all my parts now just need a seatpost and then get the Colnago frame repainted (bit of a sorry state at the mo) and it will be ready to roll!

  • Who is painting the Colnago>>?

It's a Casati. Columbus SL tubing and probably from the late 1970s. I might be visiting the Casati factory in Monza in October so will ask them then if they can date it more accurately.

I've already got a Merckx track frame but have hankered after a decent Casati track frame for some time. I've own or have owned 3 Casatis and just love them.

Check again as Nigel has some new stock in, including lots of Campag rims.

  • very nice and classy
i'd personally build up a second set of wheels for the road, those sherrif stars are known to crack.
but don't let me put you off it :)

    Will the factory repaint it?

    +1

It doesn't need it as far as I can tell but I'm sure they could if asked.

Haven't quite decided yet. I had my Bob Jackson re-sprayed at Colourtech in Dartford, they did a great job on the finish and colour but it's just not very durable and chips quite easily. So I've been thinking of getting the Colnago powdercoated for a tougher finish and also the replacement decals are the sticker type rather than transfers.

I'll drop him an email see what he's got in stock. Cheers.

  • getting the Colnago powdercoated...

    !!

    please don't

    NNNOOOO!!

Use these fellas - they did a Pinarello for me a couple of years ago and did a fantastic job. They'll even arrange collection and return using a courier for £30.

HaHa.. well I haven't decided yet. I guess if I'm really trying to keep it vintage I should get it enameled. Thanks for the link!

  • hey man, I've got a Black B17:

but was thinking i might go for a brown one instead... Whatcha reckon for a swap/beer and swap? I know you don't want one for this build, but maybe you have a use for a black one elsewhere??

Hi mate - to be honest I think I'm just going to sell the brown one and move on to a suede cinelli seat.

  • how much?

  • how much?

Dunno yet. Its the titanium antique brown one. It's £159 (?!) now - but to be fair I got mine for 109 last year. I'm not in a rush to sell it though. I want to see what the suede one looks like first.

  • Easy mate saw this bike in the workshop at Edwards the other day. You a regular there?
