  • Sorry to hear about that pj. fingers xed it'll turn up. I'll keep my eyes peeled... you never know it might end up in london.

  • Moving to sunny Swindon soon. Not to far to Bristol so might try to get there on the fixed if I'm feeling brave.

  • Arse pj. Good timing with the replacement. Insurance?
How big is Bristol? You likely to find and subsequently stab the thieving mofo in the face?
    Mmm... face stabbing...

  • the yellow hue of the previous white, could've just been yellowing of the paint. some whites have tiny amounts of yellow so it's not too white, but it discolours over time. i had a white car with the same problem, was a bitch trying to match paint for crash repairs.

  • well, i thought i was insured, but apparently not. so there you go. i now have insurance, bikes are a bitch to insure, house and contents doesn't cover automatically, you need to pay a premium. if anyone knows better let me know. i fantasise about seeing the scumbag riding the bike, and doing a shoulder charge so he hits a wall or something and his head collapses in on itself, then i laugh, kick him in the chops, and ride off, happily.

i think the white was a bit discoloured before. it's fricken bright now. looks good with brooks saddle, gb stem, nitto bars - nice vintage style shape to them - and GB brake lever on right hand side in true path style.

  • PJ, good to hear from you dude and sorry for the bad tidings. will certainly keep eyes peeled on the offchance. these things have to turn up somewhere.

respect to you for brightsiding with it the arrival of the Holdsworth. looks lush dude.
    take it easy

  • need a woodgrain arrospok ;)

  • cheers jonny. i'll post pics as soon as i finished.

one bummer about bristol, when you really need a part you can just go to the shop and buy it because they don't have it. you guys are spoilt.

  • need a woodgrain arrospok ;)

    sweet.

  • bikes are a bitch to insure, house and contents doesn't cover automatically, you need to pay a premium. if anyone knows better let me know.

It really all comes down to who is insuring and what their standard policy wording is like. A lot of companies will include things like "sports equipment" but then exclude bikes or only cover them for theft from the home/ theft during daylight hours, minimum security rated locks etc.

It's a hassle and you need to shop around when you're getting the policy in the first place. Ask specific questions, get specific answers, in writing, with clausal references. Such an utter hassle but ultimately worth it against the anguish of having a bike nicked and not being able to replace it.

  • The Prom Bar on Thursdays (Gloucester Rd, across from the Prince of Wales/Hobgoblin) is pretty good. Tend to go there on a nearly weekly basis.

I don't know about you, but I always found that there were far better places to go around the Arches than the Prom. Used to know the people who owned the place, but it didn't stop it being, well, crap... It was a bit of a walk up Cotham Brow, but I always used to frequent the Highbury Vaults on St Michael's Hill, but then I did go to Bristol Uni so it was always close by.

    How big is Bristol?

It's epic mate - and that's even before you head south of the river...

  • M&S Contents insurance rocks.
£4k per item covers the S-Works (ish).
Same price to insure everything I own as it was to insure JUST the Spesh using a cycle-only policy.

  • Sorry to hear about your bike theft, will keep my eyes peeled around Bristol. Not seen that many other fixed riders, having said that I bumped into a chap who'd just taken delivery of a sick looking 50's Claude Butler in red off ebay who lives in the same street!Hills are tough... I'm finding that 44/17 gets me to the top of Park Street quicker than most!

  • i just built up a raleigh conversion to blat around on, a beater/pub bike, the gearing is 39:14, which about 73 i think. it's great. the holdsworth is currently 50:17, which is hard work.

  • Pj, that is terrible news about the BJ, but very happy for you about the holdsworth.
    hope bristol holds good things.

  • I've set up my Charge with a 42/15 now - which is fairly decent for a run up Park Street. Although by the end I'm a bit winded.

Did a sprint race from the waterfront up Park St and Whiteladies up to Henleaze road. Record setting pace, but was destroyed afterwards...

PJ heard you were out in Clifton with Gottimobbs (met him on the train to London on Fri) - we'll have to meet up sometime for some Exhibition at the Corrie Tap...

  • yeah, we were causing mayhem. went to the duke in st werbs, lock-in, cue muuch drunkenness.

evil strength cider at the corrie sounds fine by me. i've drunk more cider in the past two weeks than i have in the past five years.

  • you know you love the cider pj.
    love it!!!
sorry to hear about the bob, was going to drop you a pm to find out how bristol was treating you, as jonny says good your looking on the bright side.
anyway don't fall off the forum map, need the injections of darkness from the lake...

  • is there a guy on an orange bob jackson on here who's living in bristol? spotted today top of parkstreet at a coffee shop with a lady. nice bike

  • I'm very sorry to hear about the Bob Jackson I'm sure everyone here will look out for it, in case it ends up in London. I'll also have words with Colortech, as I know he told me he intended to do the fern/arrow bit, Still it looks fittingly proper. Lovely build.

he tried, but apparently it looked a bit shit so he took the detailing off. that's fine by me.
